At the end of his career, De La Hoya was there to be hit too much. Mayweather, Forbes, and Pacquiao all tagged him up more than he's ever been hit in his previous 36 bouts(not realistically). Going down to 147 was just the nail in the coffin.

Oscar has always had issues with smaller speedy fighters especially south paws....Forbes and Pac fit that bill....PBF is PBF and he had superior hand speed and was able to land clean flush on just about anybody. I wouldn't read to much into him being there to hit as I would about him dropping down to 147lbs. Oscar got hit against Tito, Ike Quartey and Vargas too....The fact he came down 2 or 3 weight classes to fight a younger faster fighter with pop was his trouble. I still think he could beat most if not all at 154lbs right now. There just isn't enough big names to draw the right kind of $$$ for fights there.....Lefty

Good bye Oscar. Right now you are a lamb, and the game is full of wolves.
