overall in their careers floyd mayweather jr has taken more risks hand down...especially by taking on castillo two times, corrales, gatti etc...just those 3 alone are true warriors of the sport...

however...in recent years cotto has taken more risks than floyd...floyd seemed to have taken the easy route in some of his most recent fights...that includes picking on a fighter who was obviously less technically sound by far in ricky hatton...he KNEW what he was doing by taking that fight.

cotto has stepped up lately by taking fights with mosley, margarito, and so on.

you cant really knock either fighter though in terms of risks...

floyd and cotto BOTH have fought some of the sports very best...some of the sports toughest....and so on.

    its all subjective arguements really...

          Floyds biggest fights (Corrales,Hernandez,Chavez,Corley,Judah,DLH,Hatton )

          Cottos biggest fights (Pacquiao,Mosley,Margarito,Judah,Clottey,Quintana, Malignaggi,Corley)

So they both fought the same 2 guys in Corley(9months apart) and Judah (10 months apart).Mayweather won both by 12 round Decision.Cotto won both by TKO.

Mayweather's biggest fights were with DeLaHoya And Ricky Hatton. Delahoya was 1-3 going into that fight and closing on his career.Hatton is a little over rated and really hasnt beaten any HIGH caliber fighters and his only 2 fights with those..he lost..to Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Cottos biggest fights were with Mosley and Antonio Margarito and now Pacquiao.Mosley fought the best he's ever fought. And we all know the CLASSIC that was the Rito fight. And now he's willing to fight Pacquiao.

Basically,Cotto KO'd 2 guys that Floyd couldnt.Cottos biggest fights have been vs boxers with less bad factors and disadvantages coming into the fight.

Not to mention Cotto has fought 2 guys floyd publicly ducked.Mosley and Rito...and he ducked Cotto too.

Now im not saying Floyds Career is a fluke. He's certainly a hall of fame fighter and has a high skill level but in my opinion Cotto has taken more risks and fought greater fighters.

Comparing the two at WW just makes Cotto look bad because Floyd did all his dirt at the lower weights already.
I agree with what your saying but the reason people get so anoyd about floyd and his nuthugger is the fact floyd calls himself THE BEST and hes talking about at WW aswel....thts where he hasnt proved himself...so why should he get the credit at that weight....

Floyd did all his dirt at the lower weights...so why is he still claiming to be the best...when hes in welterweight...go back to 135-140 if its the only place hes gonna fight actual risky fights and prove hes the best

margarito , clottey and quintana are not more of a risk than corrales and castillo.

corrales was ranked higher than mayweather at the time they fought.

delahoya win evens out with mosley.

mayweather might not have fought the top guys at 140 and 147 but he fought better fighters than cotto has.

I'm not a Cotto fan, but I do think his resume in terms of who he has fought is better than Mayweather's now. The only thing I fault Cotto for is not granting rematches in close fights. Mayweather got in the ring with Castillo a second time to eliminate the doubt, and Cotto should do the same thing with Clottey and Mosley.

You fail KJ. BS people aren't the only one's that think Floyd's a running, ducking wuss.

Cotto is pure man. Floyd is pure businessman.

4 fights at Lightweight including 2 wins over the # 1 Lightweight prime Jose Luis Castillo, Decision over Vic Sosa(who Cotto was hyped for beating at 140), Phillip N'dou who had 30 KO's in 32 Bouts with only 1 loss,

3 bouts at Jr Welterweight including a fresher version of Corley who only had 2 losses, Bruseles who was training with Cotto for the fight and Cotto went on record saying they're confident blah blah blah TKO 8 i think with a body shot(called out Tszyu, Mosley, and De La Hoya [DLH wasn't interested, Mosley had a toothache, Tszyu then lost to Hatton]), beat Arturo Gatti for the WBC JWW title to become champ in 3 diff weight classes

5 fights at Welterweight, Mitchell(okay no threat), Zab Judah(top 5 WW atm just lost his Ring/Lineal title to Baldomir), Baldomir Ring/Lineal WW champ coming in with a 8 year win streak and was supposed to be too big for Floyd and was labeled a "WW threat" by many of the same ******s who are discrediting that win now including the biggest ****** of them all, Brian Kenny. Ricky Hatton was in his prime and undefeated and to a lot of boxing fans, Mayweather "had no chance" and people kept bringing up how it "took Floyd 24 rounds to beat Castillo" and "only 4 rounds for Hatton" and "Castillo has never been TKO'ed by a body shot" blah blah blah TKO 10...

1 bout at Jr Middleweight vs Oscar De La Hoya with Oscar picking everything but Floyd's trunks, and of course 154 being Oscar's best weight atm.

I'm not even going to diss Cotto...but I want to live to see the day that Cotto 'cherrypicks' his way up to Super Middleweight(which would be his 5th weight class)

Until then, keep comparing Cotto's WW reign to Floyd's WW stint. Be very proud to say that a natural WW took more risks than a former Super featherweight, because that's the least he can do.
I must say that your post taught me a lot about mayweather, thanks it is the best represantation of his career I have seen so far.
Lets see what happens in the next 18 months!! hehe
