And the rate of people comparing him to Vargas keeps rising, lol. If Victor Ortiz didnt train in Oxnard for a few years, would this still be happening? Victor Ortiz seems like the over all more composed, smarter ring smarts, and the more polished fighter.
Does Victor Ortiz has the skill-set Fernando Vargas had??

Ortiz has a lot of POTENTIAL, and I think he could be better than Vargas. Only time will tell. He has a tough task ahead of him on Saturday against Maidana. Should he win that fight we will probably see him get a title shot against the winner of Khan-Kotelnic. We will learn a lot more about Ortiz in his next couple of fight hopefully. But he does seem to have a lot of talent and he seems like a great kid. Can't help but route for him.
I really thought Arnaoutis would test Ortiz in his last fight. I considered that a big step up for him. Then he just blew Arnaoutis out of the water. Same when he fought Maussa. Ortiz has really shined in his biggest fights so far.Comment

wasn't vargas was beating champs at the same age ortiz is at now?
ortiz has a lot of potential, and the fact that he's southpaw helps.Comment

I agree with this man,I was scratching my head for a second, thinking,do people really think he is not as skilled as Vargas??I'm gonna put it so,Vargas was rushed along to young and was shot before he reached his prime!!Ortiz is being brought along at just the right pace,to insure his success!!Comment
