Did I hear that Santiago would get a bigger purse cut than Rocky? If that's so then Rocky should have turned the fight down. Otherwise, I call bull****. Rocky did duck this guy in my view. When you turn down worthy opponents for an already scheduled slot that HBO has got on hold for you, it gives them the desire to kick your ass to the curb. Is Juarez afraid of a repeat of the Soto fight?

Santiago is one of these high risk no reward fighters that no seems to want to fight. Tough luck for Santiago, he's a good fighter.

Finally, it does seem Rocky ducked the guy. Does not look good for Rocky IMO, HBO will not like this either.

everybody makes it seem like this santiago dude is a big monster,,after all it's understandable to not want to fight a southpaw in such short notice,,besides, isn't this the same guy(santiago) who pulled out against gamboa?..gamboa was interviewed and said he has no idea why santiago pulled out....

But this is an HBO fight that was scheduled. It's a different scenario. When you jerk the network around by turning down willing opponents when they are the one taking the fight on short notice, you are not doing yourself any favors. I think Rocky's next fight will be on the JMM-Floyd undercard because of this. I don't know if you would call that a bigger stage though. He will definitely get less money, that is for sure.

how is this Rockys fault? He wasnt the one who backed out of the title fight John did.

and how do you know he would get less money?

you people are a bunch of ****ing idiots. Juarez spent over two months training against John, a righty, and in "less" then a week, has to switch to fight a southpaw. Santiago is a decent fighter and will take more then a week to prepare to fight a southpaw on short notice. Even if it is a TV date, it's not worth the risk of being under prepared to suddenly change up the game plan. Juarez ain't ducking no one. people here are so ******.

Having prepared for a righty is still no excuse to turn down a southpaw opponent on short notice. Especially when the network is trying to do a favor for you by giving you shots on TV after unimpressive performances. I don't dislike Rocky, but I'm being honest here. I think he just may have burned the bridge with HBO.

It is an excuse when there is no title on the line and there is so much at stake.
If Rocky lost he would most likely NEVER get another shot and NEVER be on the same level.
And what the hell are you talking about when you say that HBO is giving him shots after unimpressive performances especially when he was coming off of one of his best, Rocky in many peoples minds lost the 1st John fight but he fought him tougher than anyone and threw more shots then he is used to and tried his damnest so who and right before that came back and stopped Barrios in a WAR!
If anyone burns any bridges with HBO it is John for almost pulling out the first time and then this.
