Setanta Meltdown is a Boxing Blow: Reap what you sow

Setanta Sports ceased its trading in the UK yesterday, after a disastrous business plan saw them over-bid for UK and Scottish football rights. Setanta’s channels went off in the UK yesterday afternoon, leaving boxing fans in the dark as to what will become of our sport.

ITV4 boxing will go in January too...

Its looking really really grim. Especially when big fecking brother 27 is still going on and boxing is being ignored. Its a damn shame and could force alot of UK talent overseas.

HBO and Showtime could easily stream their fights online to a UK audience and make good money.

It seems like this could be solved but unless Sky show some love to Saturday nights with their schedules. But what we dont want is Sky to get everything and like the article above says - ignore quality control!

We needed more fights from America etc to be shown in the uk even with Setanta.

Yeah it is (was) a subscription channel that broadcast alot of sports in the UK and was heavily involved in boxing. It called itself 'the Home of Boxing' or summit like that. It actually had a lot of decent fights on - it was funding David Hayes Hayemaker promotions battle with Wlad - and is one rumor as to why Haye pulled out.

Kind of brought boxing into the spotlight a bit in the uk.
