Cotto's jab is the key, also he does punch between the opponents punches. Don't think Manny is gonna have such an easy time going in and out with Cotto of beat punches (ask Mosley). And yes Cotto's defense has to improve and the only way is to have a good trainer that Cotto respects. Also he has to start training at least on the weight now cause instead of training for the fight it would a weight lost program instead.

Cotto is no Hatton, but Manny is a machine and Freddy Roach plans out the fights with good insight. Manny executes the plans as he trains. This should be very interesting...

I agree, mosley is a very fast, good fighter who destroyed Margarito(who beat up cotto)....but lost to cotto. Cotto was able to handle Mosley's quickness and even judah who is very fast and went DISTANCE with floyd who is also very fast.

Cotto is not Hatton, or a weight drained DLH. I'm sure the weight they come in at will be under 145. DLH came in at 145 when it was supposed to be a 147lbs bout. Behind the scenes the fight will probably have to be at 143 or so. Still Cotto will punch back.

That's what Pacman fans and anti-cotto fans don't realize. Cotto will throw more punches in first 2 rounds then oscar/hatton threw combined. JMM rocked pacman with shots in his 2 fights but never advanced forward. You really think that when cotto rocks pacman that he is not going to go forward?? lol

Cotto should worry about PAC's speed and power, specially with the healing process of the cut. Say wanna you wanna say about the matchup, but as long as PAC beats Cotto to the punch, Pacquiao is winning this fight. If Clottey landed his right punch accurately at will, Cotto better improve his defense as he prepares for Manny.

The only reason Clottey caught cotto with so many rights is because of the cut from the "accidental" headbutt. And Pacquiao is a southpaw and doesnt really use his right hand for more than jabs. I cant see Cotto getting hurt my a Pac right hand.

I had been saying that PAC is a bad matchup for Cotto since last year. Nothing new. Cotto takes too much damage. Nothing new.

Cotto can't fight his usual style and expect to easily beat Pacquiao. If Cotto can't beat Pac to the punch, Miguelito is going to have a long night to regret. It's basic simple common fighting sense we all learned since primary school fights... "he who lands first, lands twice."

Whomever believes that Cotto will be able to land his punches first agaisnt Manny, is not a REAL COTTO FAN, just a nuthugger.

I don't know why everybody is picking on Cotto, he just said that he's not impresses in the sense like he's not intimidated, he's not understimating Manny.

That's true Mafu Cotto needs to do all that and he has.

When Cotto has fought good skills boxers (Mosley, Quintana, Judah) he has adapted and used his own boxing skills to dominate them.

When Cotto has face boxers with great hand speeds (Paulie, Mosley) he has showm speed of his own.

When he has fought KO punchers (Torres, Pinto) he has knocked them out.

When he has fought difficult defensive styles (Clottey, Urkal) he has done enough to win also.

When fighting Margarito he had the right game plan but we will never know if the plaster had something to do to continue with his gameplan for more rounds.

I guess we will have to wait until November to see if he adjust to Pacman.

But at least we can say that he is the type of boxers that can "assimilate, adapt, overcome"
