        How can that be proven?????
Why do you need me to explain this!!? I shouldn't have to explain because Rashad Holloway -- a person much more qualified than me to talk about who hits harder -- already explained.

Manny fought a guy at 147 who is accustomed to taking shots from middleweights like Bernard Hopkins. He had been taking hard shots from 154 and 160 pound fighters since 2001.

A knockout was not in the game plan. The key to winning a fight in which you are moving up two whole weight classes is not to stand and trade the hardest blows you can throw. That would be suicide, right? Manny had to be continuously aware that he could be caught at any point by Oscar during the fight, therefore the game plan was to use speed and mobility, beat Oscar to the punch, then get out of the way. It's impossible to get full leverage behind your shots when you are using that much movement. It simply won't happen. To get the most weight behind your shots you have to plant your feet. Punching power comes from the bottom up as you twist and explode out of the coil. Strong legs are a good thing here.

He used a similar strategy for Diaz, again, because he was moving up to a new weight class where, generally, it's normal to assume you will be meeting heavier, harder hitting opposition, therefore caution must be used. Only a fool will stand and trade. A wiser plan is to keep moving and use your best attributes to their full advantage. In manny's case, his best attributes are his speed (hand and foot), movement, and stamina.

Does this explain why Manny didn't KO Oscar, but just gave him a damn good beating by constantly beating him to the punch and then getting the **** outta town before Oscar had a chance to catch him? YES.

See also the post-fight interview with David Diaz for a first-hand opinion of Pacquiao's speed. Dave said he could handle Manny's power but the speed was a major problem. In my opinion, he could not handle the power. If he could, he wouldn't have ended up flat on his face in round 9.

Lastly, to me it looked like Oscar was on his way down and would have definitely been knocked out, either in the next round (9) or somewhere over the remaining four rounds of the fight. Do you think he would have remained on his feet until round 12? I don't. Bear in mind, Freddie Roach had money on a Pacquiao KO in round 9. I wonder if Manny was saving his best shots until later and planned to make Roach happy by making his bet come true? It's a possibility.

Very, very dangerous fight for Manny.
Cotto times guy with speed very well, he has a very good jab and is very good at catching guys on the way in. He is also bigger, stronger and more powerful than anybody Manny has ever fought. Unlike Oscar he wont stand their taking punches round after round without coming back.
Cotto is a whole different animal for Manny, its a tough fight to call.

I'm sorry man, but your reply to my post is extremely poor.

As far as I know, he sparred with Margarito before he sparred with Pacquiao. So yeah, maybe up until he sparred with Manny, Margarito WAS the hardest he's been hit?

I'm gonna go find another thread now. Talk later homey.

He wasn't knocking out Hatton, and he was getting KO'd by Oscar in the first round, right?

                  OK, enough of this thread.

this is difficult to answer... making cotto quit or winning over him by KO may not be on team pacquiao's plan...

margarito punches like 1000s times its impossible to run from him, no one except calzaghe punched as much as him.......calzaghe would make cotto quit but pac should just try to win on points easy...
