Talk on the internet and psuedo press releases are easy. Settling ego's and risking big money is another thing.

Like I said Arum has never protected Pavlik. He put him in there with tougher competition than Abraham's seen.
Pavlik - Abraham will never be made unless both fighters insists that that is the fight they want.

Both of them makes huge sums in their native countries so the risk of losing a title warrents a lot of compensation. More compensation than the fight is likely to generate.

Exactly! See you get it. For a fight like that to happen it has to be financially feasible. While Pavlik and Abraham fight the Locketts and Oral's, getting about 2+ million a crack, it is easy stuff.

The only place where that fight could make Money is in Germany. Pavlik will not go to Germany to fight Abraham due to Germany's reputation. In the US it would be a financial failure, even though Abraham would go to the US to fight him.

If Pavlik and Abraham make over 2 million a fight for fighting nobodies, they would want monster money to fight each other.

Every blames Pavlik's side though, which I find strange because he has always taken on all comers.

              Oh yeah.

Perhaps it's because everybody wants to take a shot at Bob Arum? In any case it's a damn shame that we wont see the fight for supremacy at 160.

We might see it at 168. Time will tell I guess.

Yeah they will use Pavlik's name instead making him out to be some timid weak sauce. That would be like me on here saying Cotto and Arum waited for Floyd to retire and have ducked him for years because the fight never happened.

I know making fights happen is an increasingly shady game these days but that doesn't mean we have to become overly tolerant of it when the excuses aren't particularly strong enough - which they don't appear to be so really.

This has been going on for frigging ages know, Kelly has in fairness to him wanted the fight and spoken out about it a reasonable amount for him (he's not major for calling guys out but still has). I could just put a load of **** of Kelly if I was a plain pessimist but haven't so much. He's a tad weak for putting up with Arum so much though - and is starting to realise hence talking out on wanting Abraham more, and being brave enough to say he wanted to fight awhile ago, and didn't need that delay. Heck even his dad spoke out quite strongly against Arum.

Abraham Pavlik may not be the biggest blockbuster but he'd still be favourite, it's a meaningful unification, he'd get a belt, become clear #1, seen as a much better MW in the grand scheme of time, both would still make a reasonable amount and he'd have more of a resume at MW. Without Abraham and Sturm at MW, I think his resumes going to look vastly more weak which may effect his future bargaining power and earnings if you ask me.

Plus Abraham spoke of being willing to sacrifice on the money front, and I think even Kelly may have. It's the promoters to blame here, and for once it's overwhelming on one side, Bob Arum. The guy whom has in well over a year now, shown now interest in facing Abraham really, fobbed it off, not really entertained offers of bartered much, said maybe then, maybe then, then slipped up and said months later for no reason - other then he's just pushing it out so it doesn't happen.

Sorry dude, but as a boxing fan I think some people have every right to be pissed off. It's not like these guys are in different divisions and it's a shame. These are the clear top guys and belt holders whom have been wanting to unify with each other for well over a year. It's not happening because Arum has not in the least bit entertained the idea, followed it up, even tried or being willing to put the money up he has for other fights. Result, 1/2 guys wasting some of their time at MW, no clarification in the division, 2 pissed off boxers, lots of pissed off fans, and a missed opportunity for an obvious fight of any worth. In years to come, it'll be talked of a lot.

The fight is just not as appealing at 168.

1: 160 has the tradition and this is a true fight between no.1 and 2.
2: 168 is loaded so this fight will not garner the attention it would if it was at 160.

And if by some miracle Pavlik won the excuses coming from Abraham fans would be immense.
