Apologies to Pernell Whitakker who could make them miss, but could not make them pay like those guys could.

The guy is either biased or does not want to give credit where its due because Whitaker was a master at using defence to create offence and making you pay when you missed, whether he ranks above Duran or other LW is down to your OWN interpretation, his opinion is no more valid than anyone else's.

Whitaker never made people pay in a decisive manner with a KO (Duran v Barkley) but his gloves would tag you majority of the time you missed, hard or not.

Whitaker and Duran were both tremendous in the pocket but i think Duran was better offensively and Whitaker defensively.

I have no intention of knocking Duran he was a great fighter but Whitaker is not getting his props there.

All i can gather from what he is trying to say is, that if you not in the pocket slipping and beating someone up you are not seizing every opportunity to counter, which is bull****.

Whitaker was not a particularly hard puncher and did not get hit as flush as Duran period!!

Whitaker defensive inside fighter.

Duran offensive inside fighter.

Duran wanted to get inside and beat you up, Whitaker wanted to make a fool out of you there is a big difference between the two.

He should watch how many times Whitaker made Ramirez,Haugen,Brazier,Cordona pay because its not even funny how many times he laid them things on these fighters after missing.

Sure his defence worked well against a bunch of mediocre opponents (so more or less his whole resume) but when the guy fought someone with a heart beat he wasn't anything special.
