  • First of all, thank you for staying calm and for being willing to debate! Very much appreciated.

Yes, no sport is exclusive to a country. But you will have it very difficult outside the US to even find a football game on TV. Basketball, MMA, Football are only boxing-rivals in the US. Boxing is a world sport. Soccer, too. Tennis, too. Golf, too. But Football not.

Yes, this is the biggest flaw in all comparisons. Do we compare Ali to Wlad, or should we rather compare Ali (how he could have been with modern science) to Wlad. But such a comparison is even more speculation than just to compare them.

US-wise, yes. However boxing was mainly an internal US competition. Now it's a worldwide competition, thus the state of US boxers may be worse than before, but the global state is much better than it was in the 70ies.

I already gave an example of the *cough* golden age of boxing in my post above: A man with Parkinson fights a 6-0 bum for the heavyweight world title. That sums up the 70ies pretty well. Other examples of world titles are in my sig. The majority of the golden 70ies fighters would lose against nowadays heavies, with a few exceptions (Foreman, Lyle, Holmes etc...).

If the 70ies fighters would fight today they, too, would be the proof for the bad state of the division.

Let me also add that a comparison between heavyweight (now) and heavyweight (70ies) is already flawed from the beginning since the 70ies heavyweight division was mainly a cruiserweight division. Thus you should rather compare Ali to Juan Carlos Gomez than to Klitschko. There has not been a division like we have it today in the 70ies.

This major flaw in comparisons has been introduced when they decided to keep the name ("heavyweight") but completely changed the weights. If 200+ would be called "Superheavyweight" nobody would even try to compare Marciano to Valuev. But both divisions are called "Heavyweight" people start nonsense threads like "Marciano vs Lennox".

Nowadays boxing has way more prestige than then. However, not in the US. Partly because PPV is killing it. Boxing thrives in Europe (which is of course larger than the US).

    1) As I already stated above: This thread is not "The closest thing to PRIME Muhammad Ali" but "The closest thing to Muhammad Ali" which also includes Ali's worse performances.
    2) Ali (prior legal problems) had only 8 real heavyweight fights (= both opponents 200+). All of these 8 opponents were 214lbs or lighter. 4 were 6'0'' and smaller. 1 was against the gunshot Cleveland Williams. And the last one was against Charley Powell (25-11).

Such fights 1) would run as cruiser fights nowadays 2) would be the proof how the division sucks (because it's basically Chris Byrd vs Chris Byrd)

It's too ridiculous to compare an 8(6)-0 boxer to Klitschko.

You know what's lacking? A single factual counter-argument.

Therefore, yes, you are a coward. You are exactly like a lot of other Wlad-haters/ Ali-nostalgists that I mentioned in my post above.
then so be it. you're, however, a disgrace to boxing fans and even boxrec warriors.

        • Sorry there, but comparing Wlad to Ali, Louis or Tyson is ridiculous.

Maybe you can compare him to Lennox, but he still has to get better wins to back that claim up.

Right now, he is clealy the best HW in the world after his brother, head and shoulders above the rest, but, IMO, he is still a poor version of Lennox Lewis.

Just for notice, I'm not a hater, I like to watch the K. brothers fight.

Why particularily Lyle? Let me guess, weight?
Your obsession with weight baffles me, Tony Tubbs would be a contender currently then going on your main rationale?

Another HOF induction for "The Most ******ed Threads On NSB"

The only thing that's ******ed about it is that people don't realize it's an alt and they are getting the exact reaction they were looking for.

For those who don't recall, PatriciaTNTryan was the alt that pulled the ****** trap on Tuggers and got him to send pictures of his tiny **** and posted them in the lounge.

Could you fill me in a bit more about the background?

There are a lot of people here who have been around awhile and make fake accounts so that they can post stuff that they don't want associated with their main screenname.

Patricia is an alt, I won't say who cause they rarely post anymore, but the TNT in the name stands for ****** Trap.

The account was created solely as a joke. They pretended to be a girl and lured a poster into a private conversation where "she" sent him pics in exchange for one of his ****.

Well the poster sent the **** pic thinking it was a hot chick only to find out it was a long time poster working a gag.

This thread was obviously made for no other reason than to stir **** and get a million responses.
