Quit acting like you don't know what happened. Oscar fought Floyd at 154 in 2007 then came down a year later to 145 against pacquiao. If Cotto were to move down 4 pounds then move down another five you would have a logical argument, but you do not.

Owning myself? Lmao don't put words into my mouth. DLH came down an entire division or 9 pounds to fight pacquiao not 3 pounds. What he did would be the equivalent of Cotto going down to 143 to fight forbes, then going downanother 5 pounds to 138 to fight pacuiao. De La Hoya went from 154 to 145 in a year. If Cotto were to do that then he would be weight drained, but he will be just fine going down 2-3 pounds not 9 like Oscar did, Nice try though.

Out of all the posters making the arguement you are trying to make, you make the most sense and I understand what you are saying. My whole beef is with Manny trying to win a 147lb title(and make boxing history) at a "catch weight" of 143lbs. Manny has been up to and looked good at 147 within his last two fights. Meanwhile he is trying to make Cotto get to a weight he hasn't made(or is sure he would be effective at) in more the 6 fights.

Oscar moved down 9 pounds from the jr MW division to meet Pacquiao Nobody is telling Cotto to move down to 138lbs, which is the equivalent of what Oscar did, they are asking him to move down two measly pounds, (he also has more than enough body fat to spare from what his body looks like at weigh ins). So what is it, can Cotto not give up two pounds of fat, because lets admit it he is no chisled defined fighter that looks to be all muscle like a Hopkins or a Roy Jones, or is it that you guys just don't believe in his ability, because in all fairness it will be very embarassing if he gets KOed by Pacquiao.

I get exactly what your saying. However if Cotto agrees to the terms, which indicates that he believes he will not be compromising himself, then it will infact be a legit title fight. All that matters to the organizations is that they make the weight whether that means coming in at 140.1 pounds or coming in at 147.0, anything else that the two fighters agree to is their own business.

No not at all. I could give yo a number of other huge fights much bigger than this one that were contested at catchweights, and in all honesty no one complained about them.
