BoxingScene.com was advised that Sergio Martinez (44-1-2, 24KOs) is planning to make the first defense of his WBC junior middleweight title on September 26 at La Cubierta, Leganesin in Madrid, Spain. The possible opponent is Pablo Navascues (23-1-1, 16KOs). The WBC has yet to approve Navascues as an opponent. Surely to god a fight with Paul Williams would be better than this random cat. I wonder who is ducking who in this situation. Could they both be ducking each other? Or is it just one guy doing the ducking? I know HBO was on board with this fight and Dibella and Goosen were talking about putting both of these guys on a double header but why? Martinez and Williams need to fight each other. Are the promoters scared?Comment

I would love to see that fight but from a business sense it doesn't make much money right now.....Martinez has the potential to be a big star, most likely he will have to fight a few more times on American tv to become more well known before put into a big fight with a dangerous opponent like Williams.Comment
