I saw an article on here saying Vitali was aiming to fight Haye next so lets see that fight, even if Haye gets beat i think it would be a good fight.

This is great news. Looks like the HW's are getting down to business finally!

Does anybody know why Maskaev was the mandatory anyway? It seems like one of the worst mandatories since Mikkel Kessler was ordered to face Haussler and Perdomo.

Unless I've misunderstood the ruling, Maskaev is still Vitali's mandatory, and all Vitali has won is the right to make a voluntary defence before facing him? I don't think they actually stripped Maskaev of his mandatory status?

          This is great news.

I would like to see Vitali fight either Haye or Arreola next. I'm sure his next opponent will be one of the two.

Because he threatened to sue the WBC over the way he was treated when he was their belt holder, and they offered him the mandatory status in order to avoid a court case they might well have lost.

BTW, any idea what's happening about Kessler-Perdomo? Kessler's web site still says "hopefully I will fight him in June ... Unfortunately it is out of my hands as I’m struggling with my former Promoter and Manager, however we should be able to find a solution in the nearest future." It's been saying the same thing for a couple of months now!

Yeah. The article doesn't go into specifics there so that must mean that Maskaev maintains his no.1 slot.

Great news, now Vitali gets a fair treatment and should fight Haye or Arreola next, probably will pick up whoever brings the most money to the table.

Valuev also stated he would like to fight Vitali next, after the Helsinki fiasco, don't know how much truth there is into this but it's not totally out of the question to consider this fight next for Vitali as well.

There were no clear information about it in the article, but it seems that Vitali was granted 1 voluntary defense and then he has to fight his mandatory in Maskaev. Only that he will have a few more months for that.

if I am correct maskaev wanted vitali when he was champ but was forced to fight peter(yes I know he won 2 eliminators)& somewhere in the picture I think maskaev had a rematch clause but peter lost the title to vitali & I believe instead of having maskaev take the wbc to court they granted maskaev a mandatory title fight.this is not fact it's what I heard.

                    YES!

I'd rather see Vitali vs Arrerola though. Save Haye for Wlad.

#1 contender - Chris Arreola. Maskaev is #4, lol. Mandatory, my ass...
