That's silly...look at the mess over the WBA belt. Who cares if someone wins all the belts? Just beat all the top guys.

Top guys? You mean like Vitali?

I think Wlad deserves this shot. I think he's beaten the best guys, except for his brother.

That being said, will anyone really recognize him as the heavyweight champion of the world when his brother is possibly better and had lineage himself?

If the brothers fought, we would have our answer. Until that, or until one of them retires, it's a two headed dragon. Let's hope Chagaev or someone else will break this whole thing up.

Wheter or not some alphabet boy is better or worse than the others is always debateable. Some objective info on the bastards right here:
I respect your opinion but if 1 man holds all the titles by beating the other current champions that's how you become the linear champion.Tyson & lewis both beat all the other champs.they consolidated all the belts by defeating the other champions.once that is done even if the alphabit bodies start stripping titles for not facing their #1 guy that guy is still the LINEAR champ.1 man must consolidate all the title to be recognized as linear champ.

Tyson collected all the belts but didn't become linear champion before defeating Michael Spinks who had the lineage from Holmes-Ali-Spinks-Ali-Foreman-etc.......

So, if Vitali somehow loses his next fight and Wlad destroys Chagaev, and then defeats his brother's conqueror, then I guess the writer's argument is moot since it will clearly show that Wlad is better than Vitali. I don't think it's fair to say that because Vitali might be better than Wlad, that the man with the more established track record in the division over the last few years doesn't deserve recognition as champ if he wins tomorrow. Vitali was injured the last few years and all Wlad did in that time period was continue to win and destroy past conquerors. I'm sure HBO will be all over Wlad if he fights Haye or Arreola next calling him the Ring, Lineal champ simply because it's a fight that will appeal to the US audience.

I see your point but slinks wasn't undisputed he only held part of the crown.Tyson & lewis unified the titles.in my eyes you are the man if you got all the belts.this linear title is nothing if you don't own all the belts.in my eyes lewis & Tyson are the only 2 in my era that did it.if you own the WBA/WBC/ibf titles you are the undisputed champ.I don't recognize the wbo belt any higher than nabf or eu belt.only my opinion thou

I guess in your eyes Larry Holmes was never the man then.

So did Evander Holyfield. So did Buster Douglas. Rid**** Bowe was undisputed heavyweight champion as well.

Holmes was the man but I'm only 34 so holmes was in his 40s fighting Holyfield & Tyson.I'm not as familiar with his reign as I am with tyson up until now.you make good points but it's just my opinion.the unified champ is the real champ in my mind so I hope we have one soon.I was never a fan of multy world titles

That's ok. I was pointing out that there's a difference between linear and undisputed champion.
