  • Hopkins To Return in January? Against Froch or Adamek?

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, 44-year-old Bernard Hopkins might return in January for one final “birthday fight.” Hopkins told Schaefer that he was interested in one final fight in January, when the fighter turns 45. Hopkins has been inactive since last October’s win over Kelly Pavlik. [details]

That's too much of a lay off.He runs a risk of being knocked out he should retire.

Hopkins should retire. That would be a 14 month layoff, and I don't want to see that.

That is a huge lay off, man everyones messed him around. The thing is with Hopkins he says no later then Feb, then no later then March, then Sept, now it's Jan.

He wants more glory, end of. He's now justifying it as symbolic because of his bday near there.

I'd still love to see him face Froch, because a 45 year old Hopkins beating him after what Carls said of the old man, would be frigging hilarious. I'd have him favourite in that one even then, Adamek trickier.

Is that what you call the Undisputed CW champ turning down a paltry 500K offer, when Adamek is clearly the bigger live draw?

Anyway, Hopkins had a 14 month layoff between Tarver and Wright, didn't seem to hurt him too bad. He schools Froch at this point, Adamek would be a lot closer.

He brings Polish people the Newark NJ, thats like a Cuban prospect drawing Cubans in Miami. And he was offered more than 500K did you not see the Hopkins ESPN interview?

Hopefully he fights Froch at 175 and then retires. I actually think Froch would be an easy win for him rather than going up in weight for the Adamek fight. I'd bet Hopkins would win 10 rounds against Froch in a similar way to the Pavlik fight.
