    That's what they are negociating.

This information has been confirmed by Arum on the link below and the weight issue (144 lbs) by Cotto in El Nuevo Dia (Puerto Rican Newspaper)

However sources in Puerto Rico tells me that Cotto will probably accept 60/40if Pacquiao accepts 144lbs.

We will probably know in the next couple of days.

By the Way the fight will be on the west side and both fighter have a pre agreement on that. Cotto has also refused to make changes to his corner but he thanks Emmanuel Steward for the offer.

    144 is perfect.

don't care about the purse split. they'll both be getting paid.

          I'm cool with 144.

          Obviously Cotto is.

No excuses should be made...If he makes the fight he knows what he's getting into.

There is no way Cotto will lose,if it matters he will go to the balls or rabbit punch or do something that will slow Manny. This will be Zab Judah-Cotto 2,mark my work,a terrible beating for Manny.

I just want to hear what retatd Roach will say
My friend You are so right
but there are to much Cotto haters and also PBF haters etc.. in these forums
if people really loves the sport stop the hatting

            • Cotto probably won't go below 144lbs. To me, that is a fair catch weight. Can Pacquiao takes his punch? Not sure about that one!

                • Boxing is alive!!! Listen all you boxingholics it s great that your all fighting abou

Listen folks i think its great that your all fighting about your boxing opinions. It shows that boxing is alive and well. Remember folks people last year were saying that boxing was dead. Well screw them especially dana white (lol) seems to me that he is going down the same path that got boxing in trouble. But anyways, cotto vs pacman great fight! My take; pacman will not be able to knock cotto out. Pacman's best chances are to stay in the middle of the ring and box and move. At 147, 145, evan 144 weigh in i see a bad night for pacman. Say what you may but cotto is a tough s.o.b. Think about his , clottey with a cut eye advantage was not able to take him out or knock him down or out. Margarito (with or with out who cares) was not able to knock him out or down. Mosley with his right hands were not able to knock him down. So lets see; manny has hand speed and power but does not have welter weight power evan considering his speed. Manny when he fought iscar beat the hell out of him was not able to knock him down or out. Now consider this what is he going to do when cotto traps him in a corner and he gets hit flush with a good shot. Consider this the only good fighter in his prime that manny has fought was marquez. Ist fight marquez goes down 3x in the ist and comes back to tie the fight. In the second fight almost beats pacman if it hadnt been for the knock down. Look man i think manny is great but lets not fool ourselves manny at welter weight is not going to dominate. Hell i think evan at junior welter he would have problems. Think about bradley, guzman, campbell, evan marquez at 140. If manny loses to cotto in my book it wont matter as much because he has the heart to face a primed welter weight. Think about this scenerio pac vs cotto, cotto wins, maquez vs maweather, floyd wins. That would set up the fight i really want to see which is pacman vs marquez 3. If pacman beats marquez in that fight he has my respect, blessing, props you name it. That is a more evanly competitive fight! Floyd vs pacman i would have to say that it would be a boring fight but floyd wins by split decision. Manny will have trouble with slick boxers.

One fighter is going to have to sacrifice to the point where it's not going to be a fair matchup. Either Cotto is going to have to cut too much weight, or Pac is going to be fighting at a weight where Cotto will be too big and strong for him.

This matchup is a result of Arum's greed. Cotto should be rematching Shane, while Pac takes on Floyd. Winners of those 2 bouts should face eachother.
I agree with you, one of them is going to sacrifies therefore we will not see them both at 100%.... which is a pitty for they are two of the most exciting fighter of their era.

With regards to Cotto's corner, to my amazement he is really going out on a limb and defending his new trainer. In the Puerto Rico press, he informed all parties that we will not make any changes on his corner. From what I saw on saturday, I have to question the decision. It will give me a bit more confidence to know that he will have an accomplished tranier on his corner when facing both Manny and Roach.

Regardless, I'm skeptical that the fight will actually happen. Floyd is looming around and might want to jump in the mix an offer Pacman a bigger payday on Octuber/November.
