Baldomir was the lineal WW champ because he beat Zab, but are u gonna sit here and honestly tell me that Baldomir was better than Shane, Cotto, Margarito, etc.? Clottey was whooping his ass up until the DQ for headbutts. If I recall correctly, Clottey was on his way to a shutout before the dq.

Stop trying to make Baldomir out to be this legitament threat in the WW division just because he beat Zab.

Its about the quality of the opposition u face, not what straps they hold.

Cotto beat Shane, while Floyd beat Baldomir.

You fail to remember that Cotto was NOT a top welterweight contender when Floyd fought Baldo, only Margarito and Mosley was and Mosley already backed out of a fight with Floyd.


This is just getting so repetitive, like i said before i was one of Floyds fans that critisized him for NOT fighting Margarito. But this was not out of substitution for the Baldo fight. For me the Baldo fight got him the lineal title at 147 which is more important than a win against Margo at that time, but i expected him to fight Margo after.


And for obvious reasons Cottos win over Shane was better than Floyds over Baldo but this is with hindsight as his win looks greater now due to how bad he dismatled Margo.

I don't get it what was the vidication? Beating a blown up LW in JMM or being part of the biggest fight in the sport falling apart. I put up a thread saying some things about Floyd being a smart business man but I still think he is crap until he faces a true WW this time around. If he fights Shanes and I truly hope they fight then there might be some vidication but until that happens all he has done is blown his shot at Manny and beat an over weight JMM....Lefty
