Kotelnik is a long way from being an easy option - he's a very good fighter and is by far the biggest test Khan has faced. It's a huge risk fight for Khan, and he will deserve massive props if he manages to win, which he is far from certain to do. It's true that it would be a fairly meaningless world title, in the sense that Kotelnik is only ranked the no. 5 fighter at the weight; and I'd have preferred it if he had waited 2-3 more fights before fighting for a belt; but only three fights after his loss to Prescott, it's a very meaningful fight indeed and an extremely tough test for him. And if he wins the title then he would have to defend it, and none of his likely opponents would be easy defences. Ortiz would be the favourite to beat him.

I think people dislike Khan because he has been hyped and ever since being knocked out in brutal fashion by Prescott he's not a fans favourite. Khan has great boxing skills but has a weak chin...i've watched alot of Khans fights and followed him throughout his career, and hes been knocked down by a few nobodys in his career/even troubled. When he came up against decent opposistion he was KO'd in what 50 odd seconds? his win against barrera wasn't great considering the nasty cut barrera had, i think it would of been a different story otherwise! I'll be interested to see how he fairs against Kotelnik
