I'm not red k'ing anyone thats a ~Tunney move, next i'll be ignoring him.
Sooner or later the alphabet organisations will do something about it and join their cards together to have each of them defend a title in a fight on every major card. Its easy for UFC to do this at the moment cos they're owned by one guy. Anyway as they say. This has been discussed... move on.
Brock Lesnar VS Frank Mir
Georges St. Pierre VS Thiago Alves
Dan Henderson VS Michael Bisping
The card is stacked.
I know I will get flamed and hit with red karma for this thread but I'm asking because I seriously want to know. If boxing never has thrown a card like this, then there are things that boxing could learn from UFC. Your product is worthless if it isn't wrapped up all pretty. Why do you think the iPod sells so wel as opposed to the ugly Zune. It's attractive, it draws you in. More fights in one PPV event would draw more people in. Imagine they had thrown another big matchup on the Floyd/Hatton or Oscar/Floyd card. You'd have untouchable PPV records.
Don't automatically go into the whole "it's gay and boxing is better" routine please. Lets have an intelligent discussion for once without ****phobic remarks and trying to discredit the sport as two gay dudes rolling around on the floor.
The difference is: While not everyone is paid the same in UFC, they get paid more equally than in ANY boxing event. It's like the budget for the event is more evenly distributed than in boxing PPVs, so there are more big names on the cards. Even the non ppv events usually have more than 2 known names. Point 2: Because fighters have an hard time ducking anyone if at all possible, there are more stars and less superstars. What's the difference? Superstars kill the fighting sports. Someone with an huge reputation to maintain cost allot of money and threats the truth in sports which draws the paying costumer. There's a reason why Fedor Emilianenko, a former great HW fighter (some 8 years ago he was great) won't join the UFC. Fedor's 2 last opponents were both KOed in a sum time of 31 seconds by complete nobodies (9 seconds for Tim Sylvia and 22 seconds for Andrei Arlovsky), but many people still rate Fedor as the best fighter alive. This kind of controversy is new to mma and there is only the case of Fedor right now. In boxing, everyone is doing this, by this i mean cherry picking opponents in order to hide their true value. The final result is something like Ricky Hatton: Huge anticipation, people including myself thought it would be competitive at least and ****, the guy wasn't even in the same class as pacquiao and gets KOed in 2 rounds :|. It would be ok if there were other events going on, but no, those guys ****** the whole purse money by themselves. In the particular case of the UFC there is no such bull**** going on for the reasons i said before and don't feel sorry for the low pay some of them fighters have because if they win and keep winning they get the big money, the other ones find day jobs, like IT SHOULD BE.
Holy **** UFC 100 already? wasn't 99 last weekend?? these mo****as don't play around, btw I hope GSP beats the living **** out of Alvez, I can't stand that cat.
