There are no Hotels closing down worth mentioning in Vegas because people are STILL ******** and spending money. Think about how much money these hotels make during a weekend fight, AND it's Boxing's supposed biggest draw in Mayweather?
Cotto vs Clottey sold over 17,000 tickets and was already at 11,000 a month before the fight itself.
I think it's more of a case of people not buying into the bull**** anymore.Comment

The thing that is interesting is that Floyd says he is the biggest draw in boxing and he is the cash cow etc. Yet rumours circulate that the fights sold no more than 3 thousand tickets.
When Oscar De La Hoya fought a little man in Manny Pacquiao, the fight sold out pretty quickly even do most boxing people were saying it was a mismatch. Mayweather and De La Hoya are both in the same situation, both fighting little men and at the time most boxing people are calling mismtach.
But here the difference, when De La Hoya fought his little man, his fight sold out and got over a million PPV buys. Mayweather fights his little man, and rumours circulate that is has done only 3 thousand tickets sale, and virtually all boxing people say it won't do huge box office numbers, like Manny and Oscar.
It makes me laugh when Mayweather says he is the bigger draw than De La Hoya.Last edited by Southpaw16BF; 06-17-2009, 05:18 AM.Comment

True Tunney very true this is why you would put the best product out there hoping to sell tickets...PACMAN vs HATTON sold tickets no was the economy much better 1 month ago? Cotto fought jenning in what Feb or March right was it much better then? We all know what a **** economy we have right now but people will pool their money together and treat them selves occasionally they just need the right reason or event to look forward too....Fact is people don;t want to support a fake fraud like Mayweather who dips out on us and retires when were looking forward to a fight from him...they don;t want to waist there hard earned money on an event they feel they already know the outcome too. it is like that movie you see the coming attactions to but you feel og I will buy the bootleg or I will wait for the DVD and rent it from blockbuster....that is how we feel about mayweather at this point...LeftyComment

Low ticket sales don't mean much for this fight. The state of the economy, time of year, blah blah blah, etc, etc. Plus most people know who's gonna win the fight and are not gonna pay 150+ to see a fight they know the outcome of.Comment
