Could Clottey be the #1 fighter at 147?

He's got an unbelievable chin, boxes well when he's letting his hands go
It's just that inactivity during fights that lets him down...

The Clottey that won rounds against Cotto, could definitely win belts at WW

Could a Clottey that throws punches for 12 rounds be the #1 WW?

Clottey is a very good fighter.

The number 1 at 147? i'm not so sure.

If he faces Cotto or Margarito in a rematch, i would pick both of them to beat him again.

A Mosley fight is interesting, not really sure who i would pick at the moment.

With that granite chin, I don't understand why Clottey doesn't apply the pressure during fights... like Margarito
If he could do that, he's a better boxer than Margarito... he'd be a real handful

At this moment I'd pick Mosley.

Call me crazy, but for the last 2 years, and still, I beleive clottey is the most complete fighter at 147. I've never had a problem with his inactivity because i appreciate his defense.

But boxing has started to cater to workrate recently. Long live the days Bhop could beat people with precision and low punch count. And winky could jab his way to a win because his opponent beat on his gloves all night.

I still think Clottey is the best at WW though, just my oppinion. I dont think anyone is more skilled.

Agreed, if Clottey was more active he'd be devastating. The reason why he's always high guard is as Cotto showed he's open to counters.

Not #1, but right up there. I wouldn't pick him to beat Mosley right now. I'm sure he'd beat Cotto in a rematch, but Margs... well, plaster-free who knows.

He could possibly lose to Cotto in a rematch but in the Margarito fight, he was crushing Margs up until the part where he hurt his hand. It really was not even a contest as Margs lost all 5 rds and was being out worked but after Clottey hurt his hand Margs won 6 of the last 7 rds.

Clottey does himself in by assuming he has the fight won in the latter rds and elects to coast. I wonder if him being such a big Christian, he thinks that he has done enough to win and thinks that continuing to hit someone when you may not need to in the final rds may be wrong somehow?

He said in the presser that he's always thought that if someone is running and the other guy is pressing, that you win the round.

Thats what happends when you study the sport TOO much. Because he's right for the mst part.. anytime someone h as retreated in the championship rounds, even if they won the round soundly, it was always given to teh aggressor....

So clottey was just baffled at how this time it didnt go in the aggressors favor. He dropped the ball there by thinking his aggression would win it instead of punching.

and also, i advice people to rescore the Clottey/margi match.

I had it 7-5 for clottey, but NO WAY does margi win more than 6 rounds. Margi loses the first 5, then clottey CLEARLY wins round 9 when he starts RUNNING PBF style ,and tagging margi with slaps, and margi doesnt THROW AT ALL.

Clottey won 6 clear rounds, it's a draw at the very least.
