    Cotto didnt look the same....

Is it me or is Cotto not the same fighter he used to before Margarito. Did Margarito change him?

could have somethin to do with the opponent...or the gash

and i dont understand why you people think a fighter will always fight the same everyfight, there's such a thing as strategy and evolution, a creature that does'nt evolve becomes extinct

          Cotto was the same fighter.

The cut took him off his game clearly imo and Clottey's style was a tough matchup for him.

He showed his heart battling through the cut and winning the fight.

He didn't win that fight, that's the first point. Secondly he is clearly damaged. How can one take such beatings from virtually every world class opponent he faces and still expect to "be the same" after each fight is beyond me. OF COURSE Cotto is not the same as he was lets say when he fought Mosley. Compare the Mosley performance with this one. Are you saying Clottey >> Mosley? So do the maths. It happens in boxing and now is the time people will get in line to face Cotto, just like they did to Mayweather when he turned 30. Plenty of fights for Cotto now. Real fights.

Yes he did. And fairly too.

I thought Cotto edged the fight 115-112 because Clottey allowed him to steal the last 2-3 rounds.

Cotto appeared to be the same fighter to me, I think most people would agree with me. It's all about styles. Look at B-hop against Calzaghe then watch him against Pavlik, he looks like a different fighter but the reality is Pavlik's style was alot more suited to his style.

I never said Clottey was a better fighter than Mosley, I am just stating that Stylistically he is a tougher fight for him. Clottey has a very high guard and is hard to hit and is the sort of fighter that makes you look bad.

Mosley is easier to hit wich is clear when you watch the fight, Cotto was able to land accurate clean blows that helped him win rounds where against Clottey he was mostly hitting his guard so he had to use his workrate to win rounds.

Work rate shouldn't win you fights. It's just sad boxing is mutating to this strange business where work rate and drawing power are scoring factors. Cotto did lose that fight. 114-113 but he lost. There's no way Clottey not doing enough should be a factor here as he was pressing the fight the whole time, landed more punches, according to compubox, me and other analysts. Anyway the worrying thing about Cotto is him getting tagged too easily, cut or no cut if you sum up the amount of right hands he took in his last well in almost all his fights you can imagine there must be some damage already. Also his reflexes are not all great, he cuts very easily (nearly all his fights) and is stamina isn't very good either. Add to that his diminishing work rate and good record, you will see fighters lining up to face Cotto now. If Cotto is a smart man he'll take Mosley again as he already beat him once and at this stage, almost 40, Mosley is bound to lose again. After Mosley i don't see Cotto beating a Williams, a Mayweather or a Pacquiao.

Oh and btw, Bernard won the Calzaghe fight in my book. Air and arm flurries don't score where i'm from...
