Whether it is Filipino, African, Puerto Rican, American, Mexican (Salvador Sanchez is still my most beloved boxer of all time), etc, etc.

The issue I have with your initial post is that it hinges on the fact that you seem to think that this P4P thing is sort of a curse on Manny. "Roach is saying this..., and his handlers want him to fight this guy at this weight..., how could you be a P4P fighter if you did that..., reasonable people are being turned off.... etc. etc." In the words of Jerry Seinfeld - "yada, yada, yada"

Just like I asked you earlier, not including you and let's not include myself either, how many people do you think who follow Manny actually would personally take it against him what his trainer or handlers say or decide for him? Because if you don't follow Manny, what's the point of this conversation?
This is what I meant. Please dont get me wrong when I mention Filipino,to me its just like saying Purto Rican or Mexican or South African.

Back to my arguement check the post below.Surely stuff like that will turn away any reasonable or rationale person.

    Roach hoping for Pacquiao-Floyd Jr.

    Trainer says Mayweather 'easiest' opponent

    By STEVE CARP
    LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

If it were up to Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao's next fight would be against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in December in Las Vegas.

Speaking from New York, where he received the Trainer of the Year award Friday from the Boxing Writers Association of America, the man who trains Pacquiao said Mayweather is the best opponent for his fighter.

"We want Mayweather because he's the easiest fighter of the three," Roach said, alluding to Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosley, the other fighters most often in the Pacquiao equation. "Style-wise, Shane might give Manny the most trouble. But Mayweather's not a big guy. He's not a big puncher.

"Cotto doesn't want to come down (from 147 pounds). I'll fight one guy at 147 -- Floyd."

He'll let Pac fight Floyd at 147 but not Shane or Cotto. WTF!!!!!!

Also like the fact that Roach said "I'll" instead of "we'll" fight....

You are basing your entire argument on reasonable people being turned away from Manny on articles like this? I can see reasonable people thinking that Roach is an idiot or he is grandstanding but why would you think that Manny will be greatly affected by this. Surely you could do better than this article. Please pay attention to the first sentence of this article...

If it were up to Freddie Roach,...

I am not sure how you missed that part.

You obviously missed my post about related parties.Basically Roach decides who Manny fights.Roach and Manny's relationship is different, they have been together for long and Roach has too much influence in this issue.Normally trainers just give a bit of advice with the Manager determining the final outcome but Roach is the most influencial person in Manny's circle.Remember Floyd Sr's initial reaction on the Manny fight,he said Hatton needed at least 2 more fights but then it wasnt Mayweather's decision.Roach is the one who sets conditions for all these fights and although Manny ultimately signs he's only rubber stamping what Roach said.

Wherever there is money, politics is rife with everyone trying to get influence over the one bringing the money.Billy Graham didnt see eye to eye with Warren because they both wanted infleunce over Hatton.Roach has positioned himself to dictate what Manny does.

What that article highlights is just the criteria used to chose Manny's fights and also that he's prepared to fight Mayweather at 147 and not Cotto or Mosley.Cotto he can go to 145 but Mosley it has to be 142 why because Mosley hits the hardest.Mosley's power has to be taken away before Manny meets Mosley, after that Roach claims Manny is the best.I know many people who have been put off Manny because of this.

That's fair enough. I see where you're coming from. All I know is if you told Pacquiao that his next fight would be B-hop, guess what he'll say......Exactly!
I just don't think it is fair for people to think any different of Manny just because other people decide for him. Just like the real PacMan, you could only gobble what's in front of you. I don't agree with how his handlers are going about their business, but in the same token, you can't really take anything away from Manny, whether you like him or not. Just like your initial argument, let's be reasonable.

At least he doesnt put anyone at a disadvantage.
You see Ricky Hatton is a man,he wanted Floyd,Floyd was at 147 and Ricky went up to fight him,Mosley moved to 154 to fight Oscar,Paul Williams moved up to beat Winky Wright, these are the people with bragging rights. They can say what they want to say because they have proved themselves. They never asked anyone to starve.

Boxing is a physical sport, little things make or break you, stamina, power, speed, reflexes are all affected by nutrition. At lower weights,as controversial as Pacquiao's wins over Marquez are he can brag (but then Mosley,Floyd,Zab were all great at those weights) but to brag about guys he's starving no man,we are not ******
How about fighters picking on smaller men than themselves? Do you think they're "proving" themselves as great fighters?

And I suppose you have no problem with it because you don't like Floyd? Works both ways.
