I doubt he would have fought Cotto anyways. Pacquiao would still be on the table if he beats Cotto in November if that fight can be worked out.

But why would Floyd jeopardize a potential fight with Pac and Cotto by postponing this fight as a coy to increase ticket sales? Surely he ****s things up for himself in the long run.

I dont know, i think he would have fought Cotto. All Roger Mayweather's been saying the last few years is that Floyd will have to fight Cotto. Plus, if its true that he's coming back for 5 fights then he has'nt got much choice but to fight him.

I don't think he would have fought Cotto, and its ashame because I hoped for that fight to happen because of the style match up. Right now I have a feeling that Pacquiao is going to beat Cotto, not destroy Cotto like he did to Hatton because Cotto has a better defense and better lateral movement. I think that Margarito fight ****ed up Cotto, I don't know if it took something physically out of him or mentally or maybe both. Who knows with how the fight went a couple days ago with that cut.

Who is the actual underdog for the Pacquiao-Cotto fight? I think it is Cotto even if he is considered bigger.

Cotto didnt look his old self on Saturday night but i still think he performed incredibly well considering the circumstances.

Cotto-Pac will be another great fight, and if Pac wins then he steals the fighter of the decade accolade.

I wouldn't have been surprised if he found a way out of fighting the really big welterweights, just because he has 5 fights on his contract doesn't mean he's going to fight the best welterweights. I'll believe it when I see it.

I would like to see a Mayweather-Cotto fight as well, I really don't think Mayweather would blow him out like some people have said or are saying.

Pacquiao has a good chance of beating Cotto because of his speed and angles, his punches come at places where you don't expect them to come from, I don't think Cotto is a guy who reacts well to that.

But I disagree with you and people who are saying that Cotto is past his best and looked ruined. I mean how can he have beaten Clottey (or had a close fight with Clottey depending on how you scored it), a top 5 welterweight, a guy who makes everyone he steps into the ring with look bad, without being at your best? He has got to be at his best to have that kind of fight with Clottey.

He doesn't want to hurt his image as boxing's biggest cash cow (in his own mind) if and when the Pac/Floyd fight gets into the negotiating table. His bargaining chip will dropped considerably if the ticket and ppv sales for this fight were lethargic.

One more thing, I thought Floyd has got a lot of fans? A huge fanbase? He said he even got more famous because of his "Dancing with the Stars", WWE appearance and an AT&T commercial, so his diehard fans should know by now that he has an up-and-coming fight. He even said he alone can sell a fight, now they want to move the fight in September, close to a Mexican holiday just to get more JMM/Mexican fans?

Some people on here think that the fight got outsold by UFC 100, but fact is people wont substitute going to one show for another. UFC has its own fans and boxing has its own fans. I dont see any logic behind this way of thinking.

Also, i see no logic in how postponing the fight from July to September will help increase ticket sales. Can someone please enlighten me?

And please people do not get confused by ticket sales and ppv sales. These are two different things.
                      You're not that naive.
