Can someone explain how postponing the Mayweather-Marquez fight will help sales?

Like ive said before the guys that will go to the MGM Grand to watch the fight will be the same guys that would have gone on July 18th and September. Some people on here think that the fight got outsold by UFC 100, but fact is people wont substitute going to one show for another. UFC has its own fans and boxing has its own fans. I dont see any logic behind this way of thinking.

Also, i see no logic in how postponing the fight from July to September will help increase ticket sales. Can someone please enlighten me?

And please people do not get confused by ticket sales and ppv sales. These are two different things.

I think the Mexicans are giving the finger to this event in general, of course Mexicans and non-Mexicans love JMM. But I guess Floyd choose the wrong opponent since everyone believes he hand-picked him and that this fight favors him way too much. JMM is too small, his defense at times is completely suspect with him only having good timing and good counter-punching. JMM is not even known for his speed.

How does this increase ticket sales? Are an extra 5,000 mexicans gonna travel to Vegas to watch the fight just because its on a mexican independence day?

It gives them more time to hype the fight, they only had about 2 months if they had the fight next month, they announced the fight on the same day as Pacquiao-Hatton. Pushing it back to September gives them more time to spread the word. Not sure if it'll work though, ticket prices are ridiculous.

I still dont understand how this increases ticket sales. People who would have gone already know about the fight. I only see postponing this fight a way of increasing PPV sales. That makes more sense, but i dont see it increasing ticket sales.

They'll be trying to let the people who don't know about the fight know about it, postponing the fight from now to September means there will be more time for them to show more ads on TV, maybe put some more ads in the paper, get more people to know about it. They could also stage more press conferences, they didn't do too many, the press conferences could make more people interested in the fight.

And they could be trying to capitalize on Mexican Independence Day. Marquez got a pretty good turnout for his fight against Casamayor on the eve of that day.

If Cotto-Pac is made for November, i think its fair to say that Floyd wont be fighting both fighters. This is bad news.

the mexican event/the idea that floyd is getting injured may draw more mexican fans in, seeing as how if someone is getting to floyd's ribs then there's ring rust aka a higher chance of JMM winning

                    none the less
this allows JMM more time to actually grow into 144
