This would be a very tough fight for Clottey. Williams has a super high punch output and he can take punishment fairly well. I would give Clottey a chance considering how well he boxed against Cotto, but Williams is very dangerous. I agree with another poster in this thread who brought up Clottey's age; he needs to take whichever fights he can get and I know Williams won't back out.

williams was never hurt in that fight...matter of fact, neither guy was. rewatch the fight, and you'll see who landed the harder blows.

i lie clottey but he does have a tendency to not throw punches, bottom line, had he had been busier, even though he landed more, it didn't look like he was doing enough, cotto's movement, made him look more in control of what he was doing.
sad to say, williams would do a serious number on clottey, clottey's style is like winky wrights, it would be the same fight....................
It's all about landing.. Watch a Pwill fight right now, watch whathe does
when he gets hit flush lol. His workrate is high as long as he's not being hit.
You don't have to be a worker to beat Pwill, just land appropriately and he'll
be more defensive.

exactly what i was thinking. the only difference is, clottey's defense is not as tight as winky's. clottey leaves himself open a bit when he throws, and he doesn't hit hard enough to keep williams from firing back when he throws....bad, bad matchup for clottey.

got no problem with the fight if it happens. Make that money.....
but the outcome is a forgone conclusion. Paul Williams split decision.
This will be Paul Williams vs Winky Wright ghana remix.

This could be very bad for Clottey. Williams beats any welterweight really. he's a phreak of nature.

I think clotteys d is better. Clottey can actually slip and be evasive. Winky is just a sitting duck. Plus winky has poor balance and is always falling around.
winky and clottey both have a similar "guard" and winky was able to block or partially block most of williams **** too, but the angles and the amount of punches he threw were able to get through at times, and he lumped winky up bad. clottey is more open when he throws, so i see something similar happening to him. i like clottey, and i thought he won the fight with cotto, but watching what gives clottey trouble, is everything williams can do. it'll be better than the winky fight, as clottey will throw more, but clottey will get beat up late in the fight.
