It all goes back to that jab knock down. Pretty much everyone gave that round to Clottey. I think he was winning it hands down. The round was an inch away from being over and he gets dropped on a jab. That totally changes the match. Right there he goes from being up 10-9 to being down 8-10. Its a 3pt swing in a split second. That totally changes the score of the fight. You have a guy like Manny Steward who I think was saying what alot of people felt. 3 or 4 rounds in and he was feeling like besides the 1 punch knock down, he felt Clottey was clearly winning the rest of the fight. You could tell that he wasnt scoring it though, he was just going by feel. In his mind he's basically seeing that Clottey has one everything but the knock down so you have the feel that he's up but the truth is he's already down by 2 after the 1st round. That whole is so hard to overcome. You could argue that if Clottey really won the 1st then maybe you should score it 10-9 for Cotto but most people say that if you get dropped, then unless you truly dominate a guy, it has to be scored 10-8 the other way. Clottey was definatly winning the round but he wasnt dominating it.

To me this is the biggest difference in the fight. If Cotto doesnt have that 2 point lead from the jump then I think he's fighting from behind all fight, atleast in public opinion. Now the truth is that you can say stuff like this about every fight the the only difference here is that it was such a fluke knock down. Clottey has one of the best chin's in boxing and he gets dropped off a basic jab when he's winning the very 1st round that sets the tone for the rest of the fight. You just cant let that happened, e****ally at the very end of the round. If that one punch didnt happened and the rest of the fight went the exact same way then I think everyone wouldve scored it for Clottey. It was a 3 point swing. Please dont come on here and say that you had Cotto winning that round anyways because he definatly did not

You know I honestly had the first round about even up until the knock down...They where both landing the jab...and both were blocking punches to the body...cotto landed a good left off the ropes and Clottey had his moments in the fight 2....If Clottey didn't get dropped I might have leaned towards him.

10-8 was the only way to score the first round 10-9 is not for this type of situation....I even read 9-9 thats just crazy.

That's what I was saying earlier in the "Is Clottey Elite?" thread, or whatever it's called. What's missing is work rate, I think. Everything else is good.
