116-111 for Cotto wasn't that crazy of a score

There were a number of rounds that could've gone either way. Especially the 4th round, which I gave to Cotto. So, 116-111 is not shady. It was a close 116-111
The thing is, there were rounds were Clottey was landing the cleaner punches, but Cotto was much busier. You can't just land 3-5 clean, crisp punches and think that alone was gonna win the round, unless the opponent wasn't doing much of anything.
i had it 116-111, some rounds were really tough to score and maybe I should've given it a draw, the 4th round was the toughest one for me. And Cotto pulled away on the championship rounds, all blame goes to Clottey for that one.
It wasn't so much that Cotto was doing a great job of winning rounds, but Clottey needs to wake up and know that you win fights by actually punching!
Wrong, just wrong.Comment

I guess we'll have to wait until the card is officially posted.
But based on how I scored it...if that judge gave r4 to Cotto and then r6 was a 10-8 round, then 116-111 would have happened.
I'm going to think his card almost mirrors mine except for the rounds in question. I think that we all need to have a look at thatComment

this is an example of what happens when you have an inexpierienced judge sitting ringside ground level. the crowd oooing and ahhhhhhing.
on tv it was obvious clottey was blocking most. and landing more(compubox & observations by manny stewart)
anyone would scored this 116-111 is an idiot!
clottey gave the last two rounds to cotto .
i had it a 114-114 draw. there was no robbery.

Clottey landed more punches and his were more effective. Cotto has a big heart and he did outwork Clottey in the last 2 rounds although he did no damage. Also just b4 Cotto hit Clottey in the back of head. Clottey landed a good shot and Cotto was upset about it. That referee didnt take points away from Cotto for the slam, or the rabbit punch or the low blow bc he would have gotten lynched by that Puerto Rican crowd. We all know Clottey could not win a close decision thats y that question was raised so many times b4 the fight. Cotto is tough and good fighter but he has flaws he was looking like he wanted to quit in the fight. Also did anyone notice that Clottey was slipping a lot. y didnt Mercante ask for ring to be wiped down. Anyway it was a setup for Cotto Pac-man or Cotto Pretty Boy. Clottey will never get a rematch so I think he should fight Berto so he can at least have a belt for a bargaining chip for bigger fights. Cotto will lose his next fight he has a huge heart but he showed signs of that Margarito fight..Shane and Floyd would capitalize on that. That 116-111 score by that one judge should kinda give a hint that Clottey had to basically knock Cotto out to win. Politics wins again!!!!Comment

Although not a fair reflection of the fight, I can see how 116-111 could come about.
R1: 10-8 Cotto
R2: 10-9 Clottey
R3: 10-9 Cotto
R4: 10-9 Cotto (could have gone either way)
R5: 10-9 Clottey
R6: 10-9 Cotto
R7: 10-9 Clottey
R8: 10-9 Clottey
R9: 10-9 Cotto (most people gave this to clottey but I found it close)
R10:10-9 Cotto (very close, cotto's left hooks in dying seconds enough?)
R11:10-9 Cotto
R12:10-9 Cotto
This works out at 116-111. Obviously he leaned towards cotto in the close rounds but it's not that far fetched in my opinion. I wouldn't straight up shout corruption from the hilltops like Kellerman did etc.
Also, if a judge was to fix a score, 114-113 in favour of Cotto would be enough to give to ensure a win on that scorecard. Why blatantly go out of your way to show a big score difference? He can only influence 1/3 of the scorecard one way or another.Comment
