Bad cut + Blood lose = Poor performance

we all know this. we all know a cut of that magnetude & the amount of blood loss will affect any fighter. people usually get weak & dizzy after losing blood like that. most fighters fold up after a bad cut like that. remember the ghost quit under those same circumsances. a cut affected pacman in morales 1, roy with joecal, & clearly cotto with clottey. u cant truely grade someone after a cut like that.

I think it's being used as an excuse. It was abad cut but his corner did a good job.

Lampley was saying that Cotto couldn't see punches coming. I tend to disagree, Clottey is just a really good and accurate puncher. And it takes away from Clottey's performance a bit for people to bring up Cotto's cut.

If you lose that much blood as Cotto did, that takes away some performance for sure. Blood is the thing that supplies oxygen to your body and as you start loosing too much blood it makes you weaker and weaker, also it was falling all over his eye, it was amazing they didn't stop the fight earlier.

and this shows u've not been in a ring or understand how this affects a fighter.
the corner was stopping the blood but as soon as there was a punch it started flowing. Blood is thick, thick the sweat and when u get sweat in ur eye u know how bad it is(this is assuming u do any type of sports), so imagine blood in ur eye.

It's not an excuse. Besides all cotto had to do was to say he couldn't go on due to the cut after round 4 and the fight was his. Yet he WANTED to continue. HOW CAN U NOT RESPECT THAT

the blood did seem to be affecting him he was constantly wiping it away but when two top guys fight you are going to get a close fight anyway.

            Come on now.

He was pawing at it all night and started getting hit by rights at will after it opened up. That was a BAD cut.

cotto pawed at his eye the entire fight.
it obviously affected him and his performance.
anyone saying different is a natural born hater.

another example is round 8 of the 2nd pac-jmm the blood is goinig into to pacquiao's eyes and the only thing pac was doin in that round was backin up and getting caught with counter shots, this just go to show how blood goin into your eye can affect a fighters vision and performance

I don't think it was the lone reason for the fight going like it did. Clottey was fighting well and it would have been razor thin regardless, but that cut put Cotto in an awful situation. It's tough enough to fight a big, strong, durable guy like Clottey, but then you factor in not being able to see his money punch as well.....bad news for Miguel.

This has nothing to do with respect. Cut or no cut Clottey was landing punches previous to that. Cotto was in for a tough fight whether or not people want to agree or disagree.

Cotto did what he has to do. Fighters aren't supposed to quit. That's an unwritten rule in boxing.
