I don't like Kirkland's defensive liabilities. I'll admit that. I just think that the guy has got endless stamina and solid punching power to go with it. The thing that lowered my confidence in him a little bit was when I saw his fight with Allen Conyers on Shobox. He got knocked down, but I suppose I needed to take into consideration what he accomplished in the fight there afterward. The insane stamina that Kirkland has got is two things that Clottey and Cotto are lacking. And that's why he would beat both guys in my opinion. I know he hasn't been in deep rounds yet, but sometimes you can just tell that certain kind of fighters are built for the championship rounds regardless of whether they have been there or not. Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik are good examples of that as well. During Paul's fight with Margarito and Pavlik's rematch with Taylor, they both shined when it got down to crunch time. And I think Kirkland would too if he would get the chance. But obviously, he's incarcerated now.

I don't think Kirkland would fight at 147 so a match-up between Kirkland and Clottey or Cotto need to take place at 154. It should be two interesting fights. I don't know how well Clottey and Cotto would be fighting at 154. Kirkland would have a big advantage cause he's natural much bigger and stronger. Clottey and Cotto are better boxers and both of them are a lot more experience, so if they can handle the weight I'd pick both Clottey and Cotto to win.Well, that's why to me it's interesting to see how Kirkland would match up with both Cotto and Clottey. He will probably end up as one of those could've been cases. Me, personally I think Kirkland would beat both. But he's bigger than both guys, so that's understandable. At first, I thought Kirkland was a hype job because of his lack of defense, but the way he blew out Joel Julio and Brian Vera won me over as a believer.Comment

I agree about the fact they are both more experienced against better opposition. But they don't have the relentlessness that Kirkland does either. And that attribute has nothing to do with size that much. It has more to do with conditioning to me. But you're right, Kirkland is bigger than both of these guys. However 147 is gonna thin out after the fight with Cotto and Clottey is over with. The loser is gonna have to go back to the end of the line and the winner may have to move up to 154 because of the sparse attractive match ups. I don't think Pacquiao or Mayweather are interested in fighting any Welterweights. And the only other name at 147 is Shane Mosley. I think Mosley would beat Kirkland though. But it's not a forgone conclusion. That fight would've probably never happened anyway even if Kirkland was a free man, because they are both loyal to Golden Boy.I don't think Kirkland would fight at 147 so a match-up between Kirkland and Clottey or Cotto need to take place at 154.
