What I don't get about Floyd punk fans...

Floyd never said he was out and out better then those guys, he just said he would never admit that any of those guys were better than him because of all the time he has put into the sport.

It really comes down to posters who are fans of a particular fighter (or subset of fighters) first and foremost as opposed to being fans of the sport first. Posters like that drive me nuts. They can't get past their fondness for certain fighters and that it colors every post they make: They are incapable of making an objective observation. They should really be posting on particular fighters' fan-sites instead of a boxing site.

... I'm not talking about boxing fans, I'm talking about punks. You know the type of guy I mean: smack-talking, 17-years-old, next to no education. Jack asses and loudmouths.

These guys will frequently say that Floyd's personality (or manufactured personality) doesn't make a blind bit of difference to them.. yet they all talk like ****s the same as Floyd.

Realistically, if you had to pick a boxer that a punk would like, it'd be someone like Tyson. Or, today, Pacquaio.

Punks don't like defensive fighters. You can't imagine these punks in their kindergarten going "yo, dude, that shoulder roll and ring generalship was freakin' AWESOME!!!!!"

I can understand boxing purists liking Floyd - and I like him myself - but why would a punk?

Why can't these punks just say "Floyd acts like a ****... and I AM a ****... therefore he's my favourite"?

To be honest, I've never seen him play, just did some research on him. It was interesting to say the least.

I like to pay tribute to unheralded Chicano athletes that never or rarely recieved the recognition they deserved. I had Pancho Gonzalez as my user name for awhile also. One of the greatest tennis players as said by many of his contemporaries.

To me there is a difference in reasoning in saying I am the best because I will not accept that anyone is better then me and I am the best no one in the history can hold my jock strap. Well, for all intents and purposes preach to the choir is what they do here. That's why there are various "Boxing Scene Mafias" so nuthugging fan-bois can tell each other how great their boy is. Honestly I would think they would be happier on a fan site because then they would be amongst friendly like-minded individuals instead of being the laughingstock of every poster with a brain.

ESPN Classic runs a series called "The Missing Rings". One episode is about the '69 Vikings and it has loads of Joe Kapp footage.

I hadn't heard of Pancho Gonzalez so I've learned something new thanks!
