It was a very physical inside fight. Clottey won a decision.
Gutierrez vs Clottey - Did anyone here see this fight?

It was a hard fight but not that close...
Clottey will give problems for Cotto 'cause of his style, he is a techinical warrior and Cotto cannot be in a war for 12 rounds against someone of his level.
He needs to be smart 'cause he has superior boxing abbilities. Clottey can't defeat Cotto if Cotto fight a smart fight like he fought against Mosley.Comment

Just watched the full fight.
This fight reminded me of Mayorga vs Mosley. Clottey had to deal with a very wild, sometimes crazy, fouling opponent, and this made the fight a little closer than it should have been. The ref was also horrible.
I did have Clottey controlling the fight, but he did look a bit sloppy in the last quarter of the fight. I noticed he weighed 2lbs under the welterweight limit in this particular fight. I'm sure that is why his stamina wasn't it's best in the final rounds.
Due to all the hype about Gutierrez's strong body shots, I thought he would have broken down Clottey a bit. His power didn't seem to bother Clottey at all, but Clottey did seem to get frustrated that his defense was as good as it was.
I don't see any similarity in him to a guy like Cotto. I think Cotto has better body shots, but will be far easier to hit and hurt.
Lederman seemed to notice Clottey having hand problems in this fight. This was before the Margarito fight, so it is something to think about. Maybe Clottey is hurting his hands in more fights than we previously thought.
