Why Guys think Clottey is something he aint?

I think people are makin' Cotto out to be something he aint......a slick elite skilled boxer ......Cotto breaks wills and bones........when he found out he couldnt break ol' Green Eyes he got on the bike and everybody called it boxing skills.......he couldnt break Tony's will and got broken......Gomez and Jennings were more or less sparrin' sessions held on HBO, thats all........so Cotto being the better or more skilled boxer is not so true........I rode with that myth to get bets but now its on!!!.....Cotto is NOT the better boxer of the 2 at it will show on Sat........which opponent did Cotto outbox? and win without gettin' rocked?.......if you cant name one then he's no skilled boxer like that.......like I said timing is EVERYTHING in this blood sport......and Clottey has Cotto at the right time regardless of KO% and stats.......stats are like bikinis......what they hide is vital!!!

i wonder if u fought someone with bricks for hands too would you be able to "break" them?

You yourself dont even believe that. Cotto was beating Mosley to the punch, he ws outworking shane and outbox Shane in the later rounds.


Cotto is a better, more skilled fighter than Clottey.

I mean what CLottey do better than Cotto, than Block punches with his gloves.

Power, Speed,Timming, Body Punching, Foot work,Upperbody movementt,combination punching, stamina, accuracy you name it Cotto is better at than Clottey!!!!!!!!!

That right there is why you never even should have made this topic. You will clearly never understand why people are picking Clottey...

I can't speak for everyone, just myself. I have predicted a KO win for Clottey(body shot btw).

I have my reasons.

1) Clotty does very decent work to the body, and also has a very good left hook combo to the body and head.

2) Clotty has very good handspeed.

3) Clottey has very good defense(i think Cotto will be warned for low blows in this fight, do to not being able to get to the body, like many of you think he will)

4) When Clottey counters, it counts!!!

5) He doesn't always just sit there waiting to counter...He has very good lead rights, and lead left hooks.


I have seen you do your comparison of the two. Maybe that is why you have such a hard time understanding...You gave Cotto every advantage, and made it look as if Clottey was Jennings status or something.

1.Cotto never gets hit by left hooks, so that goes out of the window.

2.Cotto have faster hands, plus way better timming.

3.What defense have to do with having the Power to Ko your opponent. But since you brought it up. Zab was landing a lot to the head and at will at Clotteys body. Cotto is way more accurate than Zab.

4.Clottey Counters very good, juts not enough

5.Thats Very true, but how often he does that?


Im not saying CLottey is a jennings type fighter thats ******, but beside defense, Cotto is better at every other Category than Clottey!!!!!!!!

I mean, my problem with this is, that all I could here is CLottey will walk down Cotto, Clottey will make Cotto quit, CLottey will KO Cotto with Pressure, CLottey will hurt Cotto,Clottey will beat Cotto the same way Margarito did........

My question is, since when Clottey became this big puncher, with a high work rate?

When he have show that he can pressure opponents to the point they have him in order for a KO?

How he will pull a Margarito? I mean does he will let Cotto rip on his faces with Combinations just to land a couples of punches and hope Cotto tires?

I mean, the dude, hanst KO anybody in 5 years, 15 out of his 20 KOs has come to guys with a combined record of 3-23. He gasses out about the 5th round. His defence is penetrable, because Zab ****ing Judah was landing to the head often and at will to the body. He poses most times in his shell defense and he can get hurt to the body easy. Judah did, and Clottey faked Low Blows twice, when Judah did hurt him to body. Everytime you punch he doesnt, much less if you hit him clean.

Now, I reckon he is a tough dude, he have quick hands, good counterpunching ability and a very good defense. He can make anybody work for his money with out a doubt. But to say he will KO Cotto, or anybody for that matter, is absurd. I mean anybody can Ko anybody any given night(Lucky punch or whatever), but in reality, whats the odds of a guy with poor workrate and not much power Koing a guy with a decent beard, who has only been droped once in his career????

what about mosley? Cotto worked Mosley and Mosley worked Margarito (without the bricks)

Cotto OUTBOXED mosley...Mosley gained steam towards the end of the fight but Cotto prevailed. I personally scored it a draw BUT cotto was the better man that night.

Listen i love Clottey alot and hes really tough. But too many ppl are jumping on the bandwagon now..All of a sudden hes a pressure fighter slash bodypuncher and is avoided by everyone. I see this fight too much like the Cotto/Ndou fight. Only Clottey doesnt have the stamina and pressure like Ndou.

And yes Cotto has his shortcomings and issues no doubt but im going with him for a UD.
