You mean Meldrick? Meldrick Taylor's defense has always been suspect, Whitaker beats him by decision. Whitaker would have made Taylor hesitant to throw his combinations because he'd make Taylor pay every time he misses.

Whitaker. I think his superior boxing skills and intelligence win over Taylor's superior speed and workrate, two areas where Whitaker was not exactly a slouch either.
