Margarito?? He tore their soul apart when he beat Cotto in a Classic fight. Cotto was on his way to Stardom and they blame him for throwing the monkey wrench. They never stop with excuses on why he lost, from headbutts, broken nose(that ended up not being broken), low blows, steroids(lol), and now the hand wrap issue.

Most other countries arent divided into 500 ethnic subgroups like in the united states, i garuntee you about half these "puerto ricans" on this board are born and raised in the united states. Take for instance, my mother is from puerto rico, born and raised, do i call myself puerto rican? Culturally maybe, but for the most part, im american through and through. However some people would rather disassociate themselves from their american identidy for the sake of distancing themelves from being american, since in the past, being proud to be american was mostly a white thing, especially when they were in power in a dominant way.

However times change, american fighters hardly get any support, the minute they throw on a flag, all of the sudden, they are honored by another country (im talking to you brian viloria).

Take fernando vargas. Same team as tarver, david diaz, mayweather and david reid. What flag did he fight under? The US Flag. You think anyone here would say he was american before they would say he was mexican? Thats alot of whats to do with it. Me personally, i dont care to be anything but american, i fought for this country, and while my mom is puerto rican and thats great and all, im from here and i dont care to claim anything else.
