I've been thinking about Clottey's shell defense and it reminded me that Branco tried that same tactic with Cotto. Miguel will be more than happy to destroy those arms and shoulders, so the question also stands of how long can Clottey's arms hold up? As the fight gets closer, I am beginning to sense that Cotto may be the first to stop Clottey like he has done to other fighters that have never been stopped.

That's easier said than done. Margarito is used to fighting in that style and thus made it easy to employ it against Cotto. Clottey however uses a more defensive style and won't be willing to take many of the shots Margarito took in order to lay on a constant offense. I also think that Cotto won't be backing up nearly as much. He's learned from his mistake and in all honestly though may be the bigger man, Margarito was the MUCH bigger man and wore down Cotto in a way that Clottey won't be able to do.

Clottey's defense is really tight but it is too high. That leaves his body open. Cotto is a real good body puncher and I believe that will get him the victory.

            You're comparing Branco to Clottey?

Branco fought nobody and lost to GATTI.

I'm not comparing the capabilities of each fighter, just the use of the shell defense. Clottey likes to hide behind the shell and take punches. Cotto will be hitting those arms with heavy hands which will take their toll.

Are you the guy that created the epic fail thread a few weeks back? Cotto is nothing like Tito and Clottey is nothing like Winky. Is nothing alike.

The 15 year old kid at the gym who's only boxed for 2 weeks holds his hands up the same way as well. Maybe I should compare how easily he's broken to Clottey also?

On a side note, I just read in El Nuevo Dia that Cotto hired Joe Chávez as his cutman. He's worked with fighters like Oscar de la Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, James Toney and Vernon Forrest.

I hope that works well for him.
