First off much respect to PR being a little island and producing such great fighters. I have always respected the PR fighter....but not always the PR fan.

I don't mean any dissrespect but seriously, why are boricuas so loud about it? Sometimes it's ok to show a little class. I have seen many a boxing match between Mexican and PR fighters and seriously, the PR's are always the loudest and most obnoxious.

Even the historic fights like Gomez vs Sanchez, JCC vs Camacho, JCC vs Rosario, everytime the PR just ran his mouth over and over and over again...

I will say this, I have been to PR many times and the people there are very nice, much different that the PR from New York City. The PR from NYC act like trash sometimes....seriously.

Also, PR is a small island but if it was the size of Mexico or the U.S, it wouldn't automatically mean it would produce that many more champions. Believe it or not, boxing has become a fringe sport in Mexico and the U.S.

It's nowhere near as popular there as in PR. Plus, in Mexico and the U.S, there are pro leagues for many other sports including baseball, soccer, basketball and American football. Soccer is life in Mexico, much bigger than boxing, it's not even close. Actually, the national sport of Mexico is the Charriadas, the Mexican rodeo...no BS.

All I'm saying is, we know and acknowledge that PR makes great fighters, but like the old saying says, act like you been there before. Nothing is more ugly than a pretty girl letting you know how pretty she is.....
Hey I guess I'm nice.. Born and raised 24 years . But seriously, every race has trash people not only ricans. Nuyoricans and puertoricans could act the same it doesn't really matter where your from. Of course, I have to say that one that is so patriotic about their land and love it so much needs the respect of everyone in here. The truth about it is that we will always be proud of our Island and everyone involved in it no matter if it's boxing, baseball, basketball, miss universe or anything else we will make them feel boricuas and show them that we will be proud of them. The United States has nothing to do with it neither. I will defend the country that it is currently supporting mine with no questions ask, even those gringos someone talk about here. Even thought I am leaving the Air Force next year I am proud I serve this great nation and excited to go back home

Well just to set the record straight....I am a veteran who served on active duty for 4 years, so as far as "defending" I think is safe to said I have done my part (2 Tours-14 & 13 Months,on that order).....and the only reason I used the "term" is because if is wrong for any race to argue about who's the "BEST" is even worse for LATINOS to do it between them.....Hoooah!!

This is why I didn't generalize, I have some great PR friends and my daughter is from a PR girl.

I just don't understand the arrogance sometimes, the loudness. One of the things I am the most proud of being Mexican/American is the humility that Mexican people show, the quiet demeanor in the worst of times.

I guess that comes from going through a lot the way Mexico has. I think the people of Mexico really understand what it is to struggle and I don't think most Puertoricans understand that yet, not as a nation at least.

You're still generalizing the other way. Many would say the same about Mexicans, and based on their experiences, it might be true.

I know you aren't being a hater or anything, I'm just saying it's hard to make a statement like that. I mean maybe in your experience that's true, but it could just as easily be the other way around. It aint like it's in Mexican blood to be more humble than Puerto Rican's like you're making it seem.

Nice post.....what really kills me is that we are all LATINOS.....and some people act like the rest of the world looks at us differently.....when I am ask on a job form what race I am,what do you think i pick? Hispanic/ Latino....just like the rest of the Hispanics....including mexicans.....so we are all the same....Boxing is a sport and is all good for people to be proud but when it escalates to something like this (racial slurs) is just pathetic.

                this makes me feel proud...yeaahhhhh

no need for the hate coming from some people. I don't care what anyone says. if the article would've been about mexincans, blacks, philipinos, whites, whatever...it would have been some from that race getting all exited about it.

so to say it's wrong or obnoxious to take this article and feel proud about it can STFU, u can just STFU, cause u would've done the same ****.

                mexicans, blacks, whites, philipinos, E,T,C

WE ALL DO THE SAME ****, the fact that some within the race will carry it more than some doesn't mean that a race will do it more than some.

I could give u an example from every race here doing what some are criticizing prs to be doing here.

                SO DON'T HATE, APPRECIATE!!!

I know it's going to sound bad but I can say that for the most part. Like I said, I think it has to do with the history of Mexico and the way people have struggled in that nations history. Something PR has never gone through.

Well, then answer me this. I live in Miami and everyone of the Cubans that I have dealt with have never had one negative thing to say about PR's....ever. Yet when I lived in Central Florida, there were nothing but PR's and all they did was bad mouth Cubans, Mexicans, etc....Sorry but it's true. I find that funny since almost all of PR culture comes from Cuba in one way or the other. The flag, food, music, dance etc.

I don't have a problem with anyone, I really don't but I have to call a spade a spade on this one.

Dude thrust me Ricans Know about how hard lives is.....We were drafted for Vietnam.....We have paid for our way of life.....I'm a proud G.I. and on the service had the opportunity to meet a hole bunch of mexicans, one of them (J.C.
