To say that Conn would've definitely beat Louis if it were scheduled for 12, Archer against Griffith, and Charles against Marciano is unfair because it's not as if the fighters are going to fight the same knowing there are only 12 rounds. They react to the situation at hand. Maybe those guys do win decisions, maybe the other guys turn up the pace and rally to score late KOs. It's unknown.

Furthermore, the official scoring in Marciano-Charles 1 had Marciano ahead by 4 rounds after 15 and another by 3. Giving Rocky the last 3 rounds, that fight was tied after 12.
Do you think Jermaine Taylor would have beaten Hopkins in a 15 round fightÉ

Nah, his stamina is too crappy.

It was a little better in the rematch though. He seemed a bit more relaxed.

I also question how DLH would do in the 15 round era.

I've never seen an article lean so heavily on theoretical conclusions.

Impossible to tell, fighters are not robots (except maybe Felix Trinidad) so they'd react to different situations.
Good post. I agree. Boxers these days are very intelligent and the elite can adjust to any situation. I think we'd see a lot more slower fights if they went back to 15 rounds. 12 rounds packs more action into a tighter timeline. Boxing's problem isn't the rounds, it's the lack of recognizable American superstars. Ali, Tyson, Leonard... boxing needs these kinds of personalities to thrive in the biggest market in the world, America.

Hence why 15 rounders separate the men from the boys. It levels out the playing field somehow and allows fighter to win based on heart and grit and not talent alone.

The supplements these guys take today are so plentiful hgh etc, i think there would be more ring deaths a,thletes these days are bigger faster and stronger ,why its hard to compare boxers from different eras the, Jack Johnsons of the world didnt have hgh anphetiminies etc.

they need to add a 13th round. it eliminates a lot of draws. That would be the best solution because the 12 rounds if no knockdowns are scored & each fighter wins 6 rounds apiece u get draws.

with the 13th round it creates excitement & a clear cut winner.

some fighters would have never won fights if they were 12 rounds:

frazier secured his win with a 15th round Knockdown of ali,
leonard reallying back to TKO hearns in the 14th round,
ali might have lost the thrilla in manils,

                    and there's many others

"Might" is the right word for all the examples.
