Cotto didn't duck for popularity nor money's sake, Cotto took on a serious opponent and passed the test, while P.Will failed 2 months later. Floyd can't say the same. Floyd can't say **** about the entire Welterweight division because he hasn't faced a welterweight since sorry ass pillow fisted Baldomir. I'm sorry guys but I don't give passes to my champs I say if you are a champ you have to clean out the division and take on all challenges and this being for your legacy...not get a free pass to sit and debate about who is worthy. Only greats take on the challenges and if Floyd wants to be the GOAT that he and many say he is then he should have faced everyone Cotto has been facing in this division...regardless of losing to Margarito the fact that he faced him speaks volumes compared to just facing guys out of the division.
I think Floyd is a stylistic nightmare for any opponent but the fact that he doesn't face opponents does not sit well with me nor apparently many in the boxing world. Yeah he doesn't have to listen to anyone and he can do things on his own terms because he is his own man but don't expect to gain the recognition of the boxing fans if he doesnt fight the fights which would solidify as the GOAT. Think about what history we not have if SRL didn't fight Benitez, Duran, Heans, Hagler...that is what Floyd has on the table to face in this era and he refuses to make history for all the BS reasons he can come up with and the Floyd fans allow him to manipulate them and have they state that he is the greatest still...I give Floyd props from 130-135 but after those divisions what he has faced is horrendous for legacy purposes.
There cannot be anymore clarity than this, unless you need to break it down MORE to those who are blind and cant read between the lines!!!
