Pac doesn't need Cotton.

He's looking for BIG fights.

I agree with you on that Pac doesn't need Cotto. and i didn't say he did. I'm just saying that IMO Bob Arum is getting ready for PAC/COTTO base on the following:

1-Both Cotto and Pacman are under the same company.

2-It would be probably the last fight under Bob Arum (contact expires next year).

3-If Cotto wins there's you can have Floyd-Cotto or Mosley rematch. also you could still have Marguez-Pac III and evrybody else for Pac at 140 and can always use the excuse that he should not have fought with a WW.

4-If Cotto looses you can always have Margarito for next year and all the other WW (Berto, Mosley etc.) obviously with less money and Pcman can go try to get PBF to sign a contract

5-Arum said that they will start to look for an oponent seriously after June 13 (Day Cotto-Clottey fight not PBF-Marguez), why not after the Marguez fight?? Well probably they have a preagreement with Cotto if he beats Clottey and if he doesn't then they start searching for somebody else.

6- Cotto will not demand 60/40 money (not saying he deserves it either) like PBF is already saying. he would probably accept 55/45 or even 60/40 in favor of Pacman of course, knowing that, if he wins, then he can ask for the money for all future fights and raise his superstar standing and dolar value.

7- Roach said that they would fight Cotto at a catch weight, and if you look at Cotto's recent pictures and the reports that are saying he has been in weight for the last 2 weeks, which he has not done in a while. You never know if he's preparing for that catchweight fight by playing with the weight during this training camp for Clottey. Remember he moved to Tampa and has been concentrated in his training and nothing else.

8- Pacman will actually be attending the fight, (Cotto-Clottey) which he hardly does.

All these small details and signs, which I admit are just speculation from myside, give me the feeling that after the Cotto-Clottey, and if Cotto wins they would probably anounce inmediately Pacman vs Cotto. If he looses they would look for somedody else.

Once again Pacman doesn't need Cotto, True. But besides PBF, Cotto will generate more money than Marguez, Mosley or any body else for Pacman. Especially because they both are under Top Ranks.

This is h=just my opinion and how i'm seeing the whole picture.

P4P, Weight Divisions and Pacquiao

The problem with playing the P4P game is that the P4P Guy calls the shots. Usually the P4P was the heavier fighter and like Marquez, fighters were going up in weight to challenge him. In the current situation, Pacman is the lighter among the "Name" fighters being tossed around. It's ridiculous for him to "catch-weight" closer to the heavier challenger's weight. They must meet the P4P's requirements for "catch-weight". At some point, each step toward the cliff makes a difference... and then you fall off. At some point, each POUND COUNTS. That's why we have weight divisions.

Top Rank should forget about Mosley, Mayweather and Cotto, and concentrate on Timothy Bradley, Andreas Kotelnik, Ricardo Torres, Kendall Holt, Junior Witter, etc. And if Edwin Valero is ready to make the move up in weight, this would make a great fight.
