I see your point from the other thread but as of right now I have no reason to oppose them

In fact I encourage them if it means more better fights

No there is too many divisions as it is.

Fighters tend to fight at as light a division as they can anyway so to have to drop even a few lbs more is dangerous to their health, im against them.

I think catchweights are good. Unfortunately for most fighters though, you have to be a superstar to qualify for a catchweight. Charlie Zelenoff probably couldn't demand someone to meet him at 143

I'm ok with catchweights, as long as they aren't in world title fights. For example, if you want to win the true welterweight championship, the limit should be 147.

the romance of the divisions was lost long ago

name value of your opponents >>> titles

I think that catchweights are useful if it's the only way that two great fighters can meet. However, I believe that catchweights shouldn't ever be used to gain an advantage over another fighter so that you don't have to drop down all the weight.

If you eliminate catchweights though. Whenever there is a bout between fighters of two different weight classes, one fighter will likely be at a disadvantage and a lot of fights flat out won't be made.

Definitely. I don't see how you can win the title of a weightclass if you aren't fighting at the correct weight.
