I believe the standard of Boxing has dropped since the decline of American Boxing, but by the same token its great having so many different fighters/fans from other countries participating.

This is not a bait thread im just interested to hear your views.

Do you think the sport is better now that its become a more global sport with Germany,Britain,Cuba,PR etc stepping up their game.

Do you wish American Boxing would pick up a bit or aren't you particularly that bothered if they are American as long as the sport is producing good fighters ?

Whats your train of thought on this ?
american boxing can die for all I care as long as there are good boxing matches I don't really give a *****.

honestly man, you are in school during the wrong era. I can remember arguing about whitaker/chavez at school. As well as camacho/chavez. Then there was tyson/holyfield in high school, as well as mosley/de la hoya. The big one was trinidad/vargas, i came up on 60 bucks at school, shoulda been more than 200, but you know how cats are.

USA boxing goes in cycles. Im not like some in this thread that flatout "dont care" because i love this place and we have had our place in the boxing world for ages, well always have someone, but our people arent as appreciated anymore, people would rather cheer for an ethnic subgroup than someone who actually represents their own country. Thats just how it is.

That's sad. When I was in college the Monday after the Chavez - Taylor that was all anyone could talk about.

Doesnt bother me one bit. Great fights are great no matter where the fighters are from. And we have seen some great fights in the last few years. I guess since America has so many great athletes and teams, we dont cling to fighters as much as smaller countries do. It doesnt make or break my day that we dont have a good American heavyweight. So ****ing what?

They're right. Unless it's DLH/Mayweather every month, boxing isn't coming anytime soon.

Realistically, the biggest fights happen here. The biggest fighters wanna make it big here. Americans hold more 'world titles' then any other continent and own the most respected ratings in ANY country. They hold about 20 percent of the overall ratings.

If you were to take out the bottom 7 divisions, that are less marketable and successful for fighters (which is what this thread is somewhat about), then it goes up to well into the mid-30s.

More then any other country, either way.

20 percent of the top 10 p4p. OUt of the 6 TRUE world champions, America has a title. Which, considering ONLY Mexico has two, is a decent claim.

                  America is doing fine.

From an English point of view, american boxing is a sleeping giant and one day itll wake up again, hell even the current version has mosley, pbf, hopkins and many more

Don't care if Americans are not dominating boxing like we used to, just as long as I get to see a good fight regardless of where the fighters are from.
