What?... Whatever man. The point is don't bring your 9 year old kid to a fight against a world class competitor. The level of emotion is high and they're young.
What if Hatton would've brought his kid to the Pacquiao fight? You don't bring young kids to those types of fights.
Totally agree with this. You don't bring little kids to see you fight.Comment

i , for the life of me cannot understand why fighters bring their families to their fights.it's so ****ing ******.Comment

But he quit on his knees. Not only is it brutal to see for his kids, but Quitto gives them a very bad example which is life lasting. They will believe it is ok to take a knee whenever things aren't going their way.Comment

I dont believe there is anything wrong with it. Thats his family and if i was a boxer (world class level fighter or not...or facing world class fighters or not) i'd want my family to be there. And of course if you have kids they want to see their dad win.His lesson from last time. Anything can happen in a fight so don't bring your kids to the fight.

World Welterweight champion Miguel Cotto arrived in New York Friday night with his family, (L-R) Alondra Cotto, wife Melissa Guzman, Miguel Angel Cotto III and Luis Aquino for his upcoming World Welterweight championship fight against warrior Joshua Clottey on Saturday, June 13 at Madison Square Garden.
Somebody should post that gif for extra effect.
I know it was hard for his family and kids to see him lose...because they obviously care about him but in a weird way it shows them a life lesson...it shows them that anything can happen...that you arent guaranteed a win because you show up...nor are you guaranteed a win if you put every ounce of your heart and soul in the fight.
However im sure even in defeat his family is still proud of him. Im not related to cotto nor am i puerto rican but when i seen that fight and he lost i felt bad for him too...because it was obviously apparent that he did put every ounce of himself into the fight until he couldnt fight no more...
and his family (i promise you) is proud of his effort.
Its not as terrifying to the family and kids as you may think...they understand what their father does for a living...they understand whats going on but as you can see they are in new york ready to see him try again.Comment

thats not fair to say. you and i and the rest of the world knows that at that particular point of the fight it was over...he looked far too tired and battered.
could he have continued at that particular time of the fight? sure...he took a knee...he could have kept standing but the results at that point (more than likely) would have been far worse...he could have been seriously injured (especially from all the punishment he took in that fight)...
normally i'd criticize cotto for basically quitting but after all the serious injuries that occur in this sport from fighters not knowing when enough is enough i applaud him for giving his all and knowing when its really over. his corner knew as well and were going to stop the fight anyway.
Sometimes the best decision you can make as a fighter is to know when to stop risking you life for just one fight...by kneeling he could have really prevented something horrible from happening.Comment
