This is the best shape that i have seen Cotto for fight in the past 3 years and proof of that is not the pictures on PrimeraHora.com from yesterday (06/06/2009) the proof to me were some pictures made public at the begining of May, when he received the visit of his Mom in gtraining camp in Florida.
At that time we were 1 month away from the fight and he already looked thin and his abs where as cut as it would normally be 1 week before the fight.
I think the training camp away from PR did good on him phisically and mentally because, with no distractions around him, he seems more focus.
You never know probably the got to the wheight early just to see how would it feel if they need to come down 2 or 3 more pound under 147 for a possible fight against Pacquiao afterwards. But that's just me speculating.
Bottom line is that Cotto is the type of boxers that never has had a pronounce or extremely visible cut abs, and for this fight he had them 1 month ago.
I'm glad he did train hard because Clottey is not an easy fight.Comment

Why are you bringing Mayweather and Pacquiao into this? I never even said anything about those two. The best victory on Cotto's resume is a controversial decision over Shane Mosley and on top of that he has never beaten a legit titleholder for their strap. He's always won vacant titles. I'm not trying to sound like I hate Cotto, I'm just trying to keep things in perspective.
I also disagree how you call "controversial decision" the fight against Mosley, because it wasn't. I must admit that it was a close fight but Cotto clearly won the fight and even Mosley admitted on the ring that same night and even gave props to Cotto saying "he's a pretty good boxer also" meaning he was not only a puncher.
Now on the vacant titles, that's just crap because everybody in boxing knows that in this day and age, titles are not that important no more. Boxers are making great fights in catch weight or non tiltle fights. It's all about who you fight and you can not deny that Cotto has fought damm good fighters and has not refused to fight people like Margarito and Clottey which have been avoided buy lots of the so called "elite fighters" of our generation.
By the way this will be the second time that Cotto tries to face titleholders (Margarito and Clottey) since he's in 147 and both of them got their belt taken away from them before the fight.
Cotto is not to blame for that. Blame the boxing organizations.Comment

You act like it doesn't matter if Cotto becomes the man in weight divisions, and that's just crap. The only fighter that didn't that won a lot of titles was Tommy Hearns, but at least when he won all his titles they were from an established belt holder, like Duran at 154 for example. This is something to think about if you want Cotto to go down as a great.Comment
