Cant really blame Wladimir for taking Chagaev

To be fair it would be a risk to postpone the fight to a later date for Wlad, what if Haye was to get injured again? back problems can take a while to recover from and it's very easy to injure your back again since it's fragile. I can understand why Wlad has chose to go ahead and fight Chagaev instead. I think it could be an interesting fght, Chagaev is no mug and is a decent opponent.

Obvoisly Haye is gutted that his big night has all but gone now but still it's been mentioned he could possibly take on Chris Arreola which would be a good fight worth watching and no doubt someone will end up KTFO. Im sure Wlad and Haye will meet again sometime if things go to plan.

Dude's about to get the Ring belt for the Chagaev fight. Good move. Just fight Haye after that.

No, I don't blame him either, particularly as it seems the suggested new date was still a couple of weeks earlier than the medics thought Haye should actually be fighting.

That said, it would be bloody hilarious if Chagaev failed the medical. Unless you have a ticket, of course!

            Chagaev isn't a bum.

            - he defeated Felix Savon when he was age 18 in 1997.
            - he's won Gold at heavyweight while still a teenager in a world amateur tournament
            - he's never been knocked down in a fight
            - he's undefeated as a pro
            - he's won a world title at heavyweight
            - he's ranked #3 by the Ring at heavyweight
            - he has wins over three fighters ranked by The Ring as top 10 heavyweights at the time: Ruiz, Virchis and Valuev

            David Haye, in contrast:

            - was stopped by Odlanier Solis in the amateurs
            - never won Gold in a world amateur tournament
            - has been knocked down by super middleweight Lolenga Mock -
            - was stopped by age 41 Carl Thompson
            - has never won a world title at heavyweight
            - is not ranked in the top 5 heavyweights by Ring Magazine
            - has never defeated a top ten ranked heavyweight

No, not until somebody beats Valuev or he gets stripped following the enquiry into last week's fiasco. There is unfinished business with the WBA strap. Chagaev is considered only "co-champion" (after beating Drumond) by the WBA, and I doubt even that is transferable if/when Wlad wins.

Let's not forget, Chagaev defeated Valuev to win the WBA title in 2007.

Wlad will have the more important Ring belt, and arguably be the linear heavyweight champion.

Chagaev is the no. 3 ranked HW by the ring and is no pushover.

I'm fine with Wlad fighting Chagaev. We are about to get the first ring mag. champion since Lennox retired and that's good for boxing. Still I fell sad for Haye as his bid for glory is postponed probably untill december. Wlad has a mandatory in september first. We all must remember that Haye never qualified as a challenger. He got the titleshot by having a big (entertaining) mouth.

Maybe Haye can take on Vitali instead? That's potentially a great fight and it would be a pity if Haye got exposed by fighting any other than a klit.
