But why not fight someone closer in size when inevitably you'll be fighting....wait for it......................the bigger guys?
Well, Ray Leonard came back from a longer hiatus and fought the Middleweight Champ of the World, not the Jr WW or lightweight champ.
Plus, Floyd is still according to him walking around the same weight that he left when he retired, so why not get back in fighting condition against guys similar to what you'll be facing soon enough?
I'm not making a huge deal about it, but Im just sayin...
The guy Floyd will be fighting is Pac, the biggest fight in the sport
Floyd is closer in size to Pac than he is to Cotto or Mosley..
If Floyd JMM is a build up to Floyd Pac then what is the problem
Because if Floyd gets criticised for fighting JMM/Pac then i'd criticise Cotto or Mosley if they ever fight Floyd
question after Floyd at W.W whos consider the best???Mosley beat Margo,Cotto beat Mosley,Quintana beat Pwill,Cotto beat quintana so Whos the best at W.W if non of these guys are???Zab?Baldomir?? Berto(well his too green)Maybe Clottey so whos the best????
I don't care about the circumstances... cotto/jmm should never get made. cotto is a MW on fight night. jmm is barely a WW. its a ****in mismatch of epic proportions.

No one read it obviously but I thought it was quite interesting

Floyd is currently a welterweight, right? 147lbs.
and Marquez a lightweight? 135lbs (yes, he is a lightweight now after KOing the two best fighters in the division consecutively)
Don't they say moving down in weight is far more demanding than moving up in weight?
So if the fight were to take place at exactly 140lbs (light welter), one division above Marquez and one below Floyd, surely then it'd be Floyd stretching himself to accomodate the opponent (he would be accountable for about 58% of the compromise and that's not taking into account losing weight being more demanding than gaining it) ? And is it really realistic, considering how much more he brings to the table than Marquez, revenue-wise, for him to be the one making the larger sacrifice?
So as it stands at 144lbs Marquez is accountable for exactly 75% of the compromise, Floyd 25%... But once you work in the theory that moving down in weight is more difficult than moving up in weight it would roughly look like 66% - 33%? Maybe even 60-40?
"Floyd Mayweather is a small welterweight. He is to welterweight what Sugar Ray Leonard was to middleweight."
