More from Rafael: HBO will not televise Klitchsko-Chagaev, wants July 11 and Haye

Ever heard of learning from your mistakes? Clearly that is what HBO is doing here.
Also, they only aired Dawson-Tarver II because Dawson HAD to do that fight and HBO made him commit to (at least) a two-fight deal...which means we get Dawson-Johnson II as a result. At the end of the day, it was a good thing that they televised the boring rematch.Comment

I wish I had stayed off of boxingscene this week; this Haye-Klitschko-Chagaev-HBO thing has been exhausting...Comment

i dont give 2 ****s for that fight. I'm glad hbo is doing this. Plus why would u guys wanna see this fight when hbo can save that money and put it on a better fight in the future? I hope wlad is smart enough to wait and see that the 60-70k people went to go see him fight haye.Comment

Absolutely. This isn't a case of just a personal preference from a few people. The fight that was marketed and promoted is available three weeks later than originally planned. What will those fans who bought tickets and planned on seeing that get fed Chagaev instead?--and by the way, that's no done deal either, so who's to say it wouldn't end up being a joke...they already tried to get Adamek!Comment

That creep Ross Greenburg obviously doesn't want Wladimir Klitschko to become the Ring Heavyweight Champion.
They showed Dawson-Tarver II, but not this? They turned down Adamek-Johnson too.
Wladimir makes MUCH more money from RTL anyway, so he should tell Greenburg to kiss his ass, and then go ahead and fight Chagaev.Comment

SportsNation Dan Rafael: (1:33 PM ET ) Ross Greenburg from HBO has informed me that if indeed Klitschko elects to face Chagaev on June 20, HBO will pass. The network is only interested in doing the Haye fight on the rescheduled date of July 11.

Kudos, HBO. What was the source of that erroneous report that said HBO wouldn't do July 11?Comment
