The biggest Cop Out in boxing history.....

I can't stand when boxers now have that freaking saying..
.."Talk to my promoter"... But They say they will fight anyone anywhere and blah, blah, blah. Someone challenges you and you are completly for the fight, BUT you gotta throw in the ole "Talk to my promoter"
AND EVERYONE knows what that means. It ain't like the old days I'll say that! Back in the days the guy in the dominant position would call people out. Now you practically have to beg and do it for half price IF you even want to be concidered a possibility. This my friends is the biggest BS in the sport. You got guys that ain't doing **** because of this. What do you guys think about how this has changed the sport over the past 20 years?

Pac needs to stop with that ANYTIME, ANYWHERE BULL****. If you aren't intending to fight the man DON'T say that ****!!!!! you can be nice and politicaly correct without trying to sound hard. ALL I got to say is.....

IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE ON A TIGHT LEASH WITH YOUR PROMOTER AND BASICALLY CAN"T MAKE ANY CHOICES...... THEN YOU NEED TO STFU AND JUST SAY TALK TO MY PROMOTER, without all that extra BULL****.... ANYTIME ANYWHERE, NO PROBLEM. MF'ers WORD don't mean **** these days.

At the top level, fighters are almost always bitchin about $. They ain't hungry to fight no more. They're the ones bein eyed by everybody, so they start bitchin and pickin their spots. Callin guys out hardly guarantees you get em to man up and fight, but it does show some balls.

I remember when guys would fight for honor too. If you are basically saying yes to fights then when you get called out on it, your like...."well did we sign the contract?" then hide behind that pisses me off.

I always say this but ill say it again...

Its bull**** that we the fans have to suffer because the champions i use that term loosely wont fight any of the real contenders because "he gets 10 million in this fight and only 9 in that one" or "my promoter doesnt work well with his"

If you are the champ and you wont fight the men who deserve it then give the ****ing belt back

I am of the opinion that if YOUR MANAGER Can't pick your fights, then what the hell do you need him for, AND if your promoter Can't get you the fights YOU want, then it's time you got a better promoter.

              Like who???

Challengers to the title, or smaller names, have always had to try to create some attention to themselves to the public and talk about whom they want to fight.

Hell, Archie Moore put up wanted posters of Rocky Marciano

While I'd like to hear fighters own opinion on whom they would like to fight (especially YOU, Miguel Cotto), it doesn't bother me that much what is said in interviews. The whole "calling out" process, it's just a waste of a hard-on.

The real "calling out" is in negotiations. Unless there is talk about the teams getting down to negotiations, I don't really pay it much mind. I've heard enough names and possible match ups being mentioned in interviews and press releases to not really give a **** over just talk.

you ain't gonna like it, but JCC called out a gang of people while on top. He called out Rosario, Mayweather twice, Taylor (as soon as the fight was over he said he wanted to fight him again! But Taylor moved up I think) he called out Camacho for years, right after the Haugen fight he was calling for Terry Norris to meet him half way so they could fight. Fact is he was the Main draw in boxing, besides MIKE Tyson, and then evander, but that never stopped him from fighting anyone, he cleaned out divisions he would fight like 3-4 times a year and sometimes even more than that, he was always active.

                    That's just one guy.

Besides, Norris was "calling out" Chavez too. It just never materialized, probably due to the loss to Brown followed by the Chavez-Randall loss a month later.

In the long run it doesn't really matter since fights are made through negotiations, not interviews. You can mention everyone and their mama or mention nobody when you're interviewed. It's just a way to hype a fight.
