Now, Wladimir has an excuse to duck the Hayemaker.

    Pathetic indeed.

It's very rare that someone in the great shape that David Haye looks to be in..just suddenly gets injured..athletes who constantly stay in shape are less likely to suffer any kind of injury during their career...of course they're only human..but their probability is far less than average...

Personally..I think Haye got cold feet..and spooked!..Klitschko was looking INTENSE!..and Haye might've realized that he wasn't ready..and definitely not ready to get his mouth SHUT after all that **** talking he did..

Haye-Arreola by August would be great tho!!..

          True !!!

But when David Haye went down in flames and pulled out of his fight against IBF/WBO heavyweight titlist Wladimir Klitschko earlier this week due to a bad back – he lost his place in line - so to speak. The way I see it is like this; Klitschko is the champ and in my book the champ calls the shots and holds all the cards.

David Haye claims he can be ready to fight by July 11th and he wants Wladimir to wait around for him. Haye figures if he lays off for three weeks or so that he'll be ready to go. But what if his back doesn't heal quickly enough? What if he begins to train again and on the first punch he throws at the heavy bag or the first time he wings a “Hayemaker” at a sparring partner the back goes out again? Then where are we?

If you've ever done anything to injure your back, you know it is a tricky part of the body to get right again. For all of you guys that have ever bent over to put on your socks and felt a twinge, twisted your back on a golf swing or woke up one morning stiff and sore – you know what back pain is and how long it can sometimes take to go away.

So when Haye and his camp claim all will be well and they hope he will be ready to compete on July 11th that sounds like a lot of wishful thinking to me. It's like one of my former mentors once said: “Hope is not a strategy.” [details]
Man you nipped it in the butt, i couldnt have said it better myself. For once the writer and i are on the same page about everything. I really hope Klitty forgets about this buffoon, belly full of hot air and fights the russian.

If he didnt talk so much ****, I would think most fans would have said to wait. But the reality is, he did and most non biased fans are saying move on. The Chagaev fight is actually better for heavyweightboxing. If Klitschko wins, a mandatory fight with Value would happen sooner than latter. Also, if Klitschko loses, very likely Vitaly and Ruslan fight for the unified Heavy weight championship. Any boxing fan knows this is best for boxing.

I tend to agree with one exception. Steroids.

I would not be the least but surprised if Haye hit the juice hard to bulk up for the fight.

Steroid use can weaken tendons and ligaments, making back injuries much easier.

This is the same kind of dead ringer for use as when Vargas came up anemic.

                  BULL****

Most top level boxers are in 'great shape', and they get injured training for fights all the time. Dimitrenko was in 'great shape' (Wlad) - and got injured. Johnathon Banks (Enzo Mac) was in 'great shape' - and got injured. And that's just a couple of recent examples. Haye picked up an injury.... end of.

I dont think Haye is being given too much stick about him being injured - I think he is genuinely injured - but I just dont think that Wlad owes him anything to hang around and wait. I certainly dont think a 3 week delay will allow Haye to recover from an injury which Adam Booth says has deteriorated over the last few weeks AND come into the fight in 100% shape. Its a big ask and does seem bizare that its only 3 weeks. I was excited for the fight but if Haye goes down the Chagaev route then we will get closer to a unified champion.

If Shannon Briggs had've kept himself in good condition the past few years and was in a position to fight Klitschko, I'd have been very curious to take a look at that fight.

Briggs is one of the very few guys with the tools needed to beat that robot, and he's thrown it away by not training hard enough and being far too big.
