im not too sure about berto, one side of me agress with the writer hes being moved along too slowly and the big three would all outclass and outfight him easily. with question marks over his chin hes being fed fighters who they know won't be KO'ing him, and i dont see any huge improvements in his style hes still a predominantly 1-2 fighter.

the other side of me says that some of this criticsm is slightly harsh, he is a good fighter has good speed and power, just look at his KO ratio. besides is he being moved along at a slower rates as the other fighters like cotto were?

i think berto does need a big fight against the top 3 dogs in the division. i can see why they wanted SSM after his win over mayorga because it looked like SSM was on the way out. since his dismantling of margarito berto's team have gone real quiet real quick over that bout. imo if clottey loses against cotto i can see them going for that fight.

for now i can see him taking on someone like ricardo torres, judah, maybe even malignaggi.

Berto does'nt need a new trainer. Tony morgan created a perfect fight plan for berto. I was at camp i know this for sure. Berto like most young guns is still learning and this must be understood. His time for true greatness is coming. So says uncle dre

ha, just saw that (and fixed it). not sure what happened there, looks like a Spanish-to-English translation gone awry! Thanks for flagging it. Want a job?

The Cotto comparison is a fair one, although at this point in his career, Miguel was already facing far better competition and on a more consistent basis. At this same point in his career, Cotto fought Lovemore N'Dou, Randall Bailey, Carlos Maussa, Chop Chop Corley, Kelson Pinto and was getting ready to face Ricardo Torres.

Show me the names on Berto's resume that measure up to that list.

I agree with you in that I can easily DiBella go ambulance chaser mode in scouting out Andre's next opponent. It will be a welterweight for sure (it has to be, anyway). Just not one that pushes Dre into the top five, or answers any more questions we have about him.

If Berto continues to clinch, all that speed will not help him against an experienced fighter with power. Urango came close of landing one but he was to mechanical. Half step backward with a couter right or left will land against Berto. Collazo didn't have enough power. I do like Berto but don't think the last fight did anything for him. Really fast hands but he is not sitting on the punches or aleast going foward with them to generate power

he is 25 going on 26 he aint green maybe it is time to consider that he may not be that good. A few fighter have tools that he posses but maybe he doesn't posses the ability to put it all together? I do no tknow really he looked great at moments but then he does something ****** gets hit with a dumb punch clinches and hold on longer then he needs to for no good reason. Something....Lefty

                    First: GREAT ARTICLE.

I think Berto is average at best......Let see him fight Quintana or Zab Judah. I do believe he will never be at the Level of SSM,FMJr,Cotto. Dibella has done quite a job hyping this guy, unfortunately for him and TEAM Berto no one really cares or believes on this fool.

Berto should take on a top 10 guy like Quintana. That could be a very interesting and entertaining fight...Though Quintana might just beat him.
